What red bought is not exactly an "OEM module". Its really is a module on a board with all the necessary parts to make it plug and play. As a whole its no different from a standard USB GPS receiver you can buy off ebay but less the antenna with inflated price.
You would only use a module if you want to highly integrate it with a tracking device for example, in this case the USB circuitry is not needed. You may wanna work with TTL levels directly fed to the MCU.
If you want the OEM feel just for the hell of it. Get yourself a decent USB GPS receiver off ebay with external antenna connection, buy an active antenna. Rip the case open and what do you find is a complete PCB with all the bits in, call that your OEM module if you want.
Here is mine :
Bluetooth GPS with RFMD chipset and an active antenna.
Both are bought cheap off e-bay.
Red, does this allow the connection between the vehicles speed sensor and the board??

Just ordered one, I've been looking for a sirf III oem unit i can integrate into my pc case.
aighty - well after all this time I've finally found the time to install the board in the car.
Now all I need is the battery so it doesn't have to initialize every time I start the car...lol
Installed the drivers from here: http://www.ftdichip.com/Drivers/VCP.htm
Told iGuidance to search for it, found it, locked on, and I'm good to go!
No word on how quick it is or anything along those lines as I'm still sitting here in the garage.
Will let everyone know when I actually drive the car (sorry, it'll be a while, the weather is too nice here now, been riding the motorcycle to work every day!)
