ok, thanks...
I need a new GPS receiver, think this is worth trying? Or should I just get the BU-353
nope - I ride a motorcycle on all but the nastiest of days. Won't have a chance to fully test this for a while. Possibly this weekend, we'll see.

going this route will be substantially more $$, the board is about $100 then you need an external antenna for it too, so add maybe $75 to that.
I was willing to pay for a more fully integrated install. This might not be important to you though.

Unless your going to be mounting the receiver inside the case and making it all integrated. I would just stick with the BU-353.
I've ran the ET301 in my car now for the last 8 months with no problems, but it's signal reception is about the same as the Sirf3 based USB models.

I'm running the board behind the interior pannel with the rest of my PC.
My biggest issue with the BU was trying to find a place to put it that wasn't hideously ugly. Sure, you can just slap it on your dash, or slap it on your roof, but IMO, that's half assed.

yeah, i'll just get the bu, I can put it underneath the carpet on my rear dash, hidden, no metal above it, should work fine... just have to worry bout keeping it from vibrating...
Looks good, but if I were to go with a more OEM solution, I'd go with something that features dead reckoning. Looks like the only advantage over other USB units is this unit has the on board battery. That helps in not having to lock on, since it's essentially always-on. (Hot start 8 seconds)
Similar to the Holux GPSSlim 236. The Holux is bluetooth wireless, and has the ability to use an external antenna. The two (Yours and the Holux) have the same specs.
The Holux is what we use for Playstation Portable GPS, since it doens't require power from the USB cable
Looks good Red. For about the same price I think I'd rather have blue tooth capability as well. (You can also run it straight off USB, serial, and have an external antenna).

Well I have the Ublox dead reckoning setup as well. The problem i'm having is not being able to get access to my speed pulse. Well more like I just dont want to take half the car apart in order to get to it. So of course that project sits waiting in a box for me to install, I bought the et301 just as a temporary solution and it stuck.

Red - any details you can share at this point re: results after implementation? comparison to bu-353?
