USB GPS Globalsat bu-353 will connect one day, but wont the next unless i reinstall !

The carpc guys will probably have a bit more experience in this stuff but anyway, i've got a globalsat bu-353 usb on my carpc. Its running off destinator 3 with australian maps.

Anyway heres the problem, it will connect one day fine with full satellite lock, and another it wont even connect to even one satellite at all. I try redecting the gps (com 3 NMEA) and hit gps set, it finds the gps unit fine, but it doesnt get any satellites unless i delete the destinator 3 installation, and reinstall the program. Once i reinstall the program and detect it as a NMEA protocol its fine. I dont even need to reboot !

I'm not sure why this happens, when it doesnt connect, its not the line of sight as on a 'normal' day it would connect with full satellite lock. Even when its not working gps info picks up info 100%.

What on earth is going on ?

Is there any other software i can use besides destinator ?

by the way just to make sure, i live in australia, i'm not sure there are australian iguidance maps ? if they are someone please correct me

I seem to have the same problem with BR-355 & IG 2.13. Most days, GPS is detected while sometimes it's not. I seem to have solved the problem by starting USGlobalsat's GPSinfo.exe, getting lock, exiting, and then, frontend / IG.

There is a program on the disk that comes with the GPS reveiver. Something like "gps info" or something. You can use that program to scan which port is being used for the GPS receiver. Each time I unplug the GPS receiver it assigns a new port. Also, when you let the Scan program scan, make sure you close the other software that is making use of the GPS receiver.
When you know on which port the GPS is used, then define that in Xport3.
    Hope that helps you.
