    iGuidance not remembering com port

Couldn't find any other threads about this, but is there a way to have iGuidance remember what com port it was set to between restarts of the computer/program?

I run it embedded in RoadRunner (shouldn't matter anyway), but at times, each time I start iGuidance I have to go back into the Tools menu and reselect the correct GPS com port (13 in my case). It's just now a pain because I'm running it embedded in a skin that hides iGuidance's File Menu bar, and in order to select the GPS port I have to close iGuidance, minimize the skin, open iGuidance from the desktop by itself, select the port in from the File menu, close iguidance, go back to Road Runner, and then open GPS in the skin.

Just wondering if there was a way (hack, registry key, etc...) to tell iGuidance to always use a specific default GPS port.

    Thanks,
    Nick

Change your com port to a number lower the 13! Change it to a number under 10...I had the same problem. GO to device management and under ports rightr click your GPS receiver and go to properties then click advanced! Change to a different port i garuntee thats ur problem!

Will have to try that. I'm just using a garmin serial gps unit and Xport to split it to several programs so I'll go play around the xport com assignments. Had crossed my mind to try this but I guess I thought it just shouldn't matter, why remember a single digit com and not a higher one?? *sigh*.... oh well.

The only was I could get iGuidance to remember the GPS port was to make it com1. I set up the GPS to be on com3 and use xport to make it com1 (for iGuidance), com5 for rr, com6 for mappoint (i think). Any how, that is how I got it to work for me.

    Good luck.
    Yeah google!

I had the same problem but found this thread:
    Small iGuidance problem
where someone explained that the INAV's FAQ tells you how to change the com port manually. Just change HKLM\Software\iNav\iGuidance\CommPort
to the desired value using the registry editor of your choice.
