    No signal lock?

I'm about to take a trip in two weeks and I need to get my gps working. Is anyone else having issues in the Vancouver, BC area? I've tried my Holux GM-210 and my old Rand Mcnally receivers with iguidance 3, mapmonkey and copilot live. Neither are able to lock any satellites in any of the software. My Holux is a steady green light. I thought it might be my usb port so I also tried it on 2 laptops and it's the same thing. The only conclusion I can come up with is the gps system is down at the moment..... Any other opinions?

Oh yeah, I also tried my Holux in sirf mode with mapmonkey... it can only see two sats but no lock on either one. Sky is clear at the moment if that has any affect on it.. Receivers were mounted outside the car tho they've both worked fine in the past on the dash.

First of all, to get a "fix", you need to lock onto at least three satellites so your position can be triangulated based on the distance between you and each of the three satellites.

There may be an issue with one or more satellites. There was a thread here about GPS outages recently. You might try researching that and see if the outage is one that's affecting you and your area.

The other thing I suggest is to disconnect the GPS receiver fomt he PC completely for a good period of time (like overnight), reconnect it and see fi you get a fix then.

Good luck, and print some maps... Just in case.
Have you looked in the FAQ yet?
    How about the Wiki?

Under normal circumstances, a signature would go here.

Forgot to say that the Rand mcnally gps unit is an older Serial/PS2 model and it hasn't been plugged in for almost a year. I opened up the com ports for both units and I can see there's data coming through. They just won't lock onto any of the sats.
