    IPAQ Question (4355)

Im sorry if this has been covered before and sorry for making another thread but i did some reading but im new to this.

Im thinking about picking up a Ipaq 4355 from a friend of mine for $75 and if i get it i want to be able to run some sort of navigation program on it. I currenty have MS Streets and Trips 06 on my laptop and understand that i can install the pocket version to the Ipaq. Now my main question is whats the best way (keeping low cost in mind) to recieve a GPS signal? SD GPS, Bluetooth?.........i would prefer to keep cost to a minimum...any help or a point in the right direction would be great!!

    thanks

    josh

did similar with ipaq rx3715 (I think that's the model), has bt and wifi

loaded streets & trips 2006, it was very limited on pocketpc, compared to PC version

for gps, I used bluetooth receiver and it worked well, easy to setup, etc, on PPC

that said, I'd also look at the SD option - one benefit I can think of is simpler power mgmt - just uses the IPAQ power, for better or worse. with my BT unit, ended up leaving it on car power all the time, as the battery seemed to run down within a day or so routinely - plus, the little LED lights on it weren't real clear about when it was running low - so it was just easier to plug it in and forget it, but that' another cord, another cig lighter - something to factor in - disadvantage of SD would be it may constrain where you place the ipaq in the car - with the BT, you stick it in the window or sunroof and forget about it, reception is good there

I had a 4355 I believe with the Bluetooth GPS from HP and it died on me after like 3-4 months. Not sure what went wrong with it it would power on but the bluetooth light wouldn't come on on the GPS unit. So I bought an SD GPS card since they're cheaper and it worked well for a while but I just stopped using it.

I use a Holux SlimGPS which is bluetooth and I connect to iGuidance 3 on my HP 6325. Works like a charm. The gps unit was something like $50 bucks on ebay. It's fairly accurate and iguidance is a nice gps app
