For instance I have 1 serial port which is COM1, and then 4 USB which are COM2, COM3, COM4, COM5.
Go to device manager, and select your GPS device and see what com port it is listed as.

I just got a GlobalSat GPS reciver... (USB)
but freedrive cant seem do find it... the only things i can choos are
COM1, COM2, COM3 ... and no USB :S
how can i fix this problem?

you might need a driver to create a virtual com port via the USB. The Bu-353 for instance requires that you install a driver so it can emulate a com port through the USB.
Yes the USB serial controller. Actually all USB devices that I know of require this. So as long as he did put the CD in to install using the drivers, he should have that.

oki I ckecked.. and it says
Bit per sec: 9600
port: com3
but when I choose the samt settings in freedrive nothing happens...
