It's an electric device which MAY be able to withstand moderate changes in climate, but to be on the safe side, I would mount it where many others have mounted theirs - inside, by the dash board / rear window - depending on your car.

I ordered the BU-353 GPS receiver on sunday and it's supposed to come in tomorrow so I've been reading the threads on people's suggestions of where to mount the gps receivers. I see that plenty of people have mounted their receivers on the external part of their car and I'm just wondering (because I live in Florida and we get thunderstorms like all hell) if anyone has ever had their gps receiver destroyed from heavy rainfall or other forms of destructive weather (although the BU-353 is desribed as weatherproof). I would hate to have my receiver destroyed in such a manner :-/ so I'm hoping that I can learn something from others' experiences. Thanks!![]()

It doesn't stand up to power washings.
Good to know. Any input from someone who has it mounted outside where the front windshield meets the front hood area? That's where I was looking to mount mine originally.
