Here's the link to the video:

Again, try to get past of the poor usb capture device (SIIG). It just does not work...I may try one more brand before switching to the above DVR solutions.

I'll post a night video version Sunday night, I hope. Final test for the camera before the car wash.

At $250.00 I wouldn't go for it. A big DVR with a big CCD camera maybe a better bet if you have the room. Cheaper and more reliable, but that's IMHO.

Hi Thanks for the reply, I have a van BUT no grill to put camera behind, inside room no problem at all, what I would really like is something I can use for recording driving and then at night switch to some kind of motion sensor recording for security

Well it all depends on preference. Rippling decided to put it inside the grill, but mine works just as well in the cabin. Now the issue you are having with frames being lost Rippling, is the exact reason I decided to go with a dedicated system that does its own recording. What I do like about the grill setup though is the fact you have a clear view of the license plate. I just took a look at mine and notice you can really make it out at all. Oh well, guess everything cant be perfect, lol....

PS: I know the image is jerky, but its from the encoding process. Thats what happens when you try to use a ATOM based pc to encode video.

If I hadn't already spent the $160 on the pre-production unit and I knew the bugs were fixed in the $250 unit, I would probably buy the GS600. The price is a little steep, but I like that it is a compact all-in-one camera that overlays GPS speed and has an easily removed micro SD memory card.

But, to each his own and everyone has different wants/needs for the system. I just didn't have space for a larger camera and DVR

This is what I did when I took the pictures/videos above, just double sided tape.

I believe in that spot the huge fan won't help with sharpness and stability (they were touching each other). SO I moved it to the other side, using the same holes as one of the horns, mounting the horn in the bracket I shaped hammer style. It's pretty thick steel and solid, and I also used the same strong tape under the heavy duty bolt I have there. I have more room to play now.

This is how I have it set up now. I have it wrapped in tape now while I was working with it in the garage, didn't want to harm the finish (not before the jet water test).

It's great that the grille lifts in an arc, so the camera can be extremely close to it, or even sticking out from it, since the hood goes forwards and up. I just don't want it too show at all. As it is, closing and lifting up won't touch, scrape it or make it move (not more than the car itself does).

I'll put more pictures in my worklog thread with more details (see signature). I'm just talking about the gps and dvr issues here from now on.

I know it very old now but I like the setup that Lancing74 posted here:

with that small DVR unit, Ive looked everywhere for 1 like that but cant seem to find anything anywhere, I do like the GS600 as its nice and compact but woud be nice if it had the option of plugging an extra camera in

I've seen that install before, and I agree, it's very cool. I think this is the unit?

It's a very cool unit, but expensive at $189.00. I've seen it on ebay too.

Well, I'm only thinking of the dvr unit because I have room for it to spare. On the smaller FX the GS600 would work great, but there I'm using a Logitech camera (great at day time, very poor at night) with Minicam.
