I have a question, do these cameras (like the GS600) when you start the car, or you have to press a button?

The GS600 starts and stops when it receives/loses power. There's supposedly a little internal battery to keep it running just long enough to save the last clip safely to the memory card, but mine usually corrupts the last clip each time.

There's no ACC connection, just a DC input, so it isn't "ignition aware".

    Thanks, Sebbery.

BTw, just found it here for $205.00.

I'm now thinking about this unit here: dual DVR recorder with dual SD card. Supposedly this uses a dual core machine (ARM?) and each camera feed is recorded to one SD card, up to 32GB is supported. Power on auto record, loop and even GPS is included, for $247.00.

Interesting but I can't find the manual anywhere. Apparently (according to my googling) this particular dual sd card recorders (MD12G, for $250) for in car use started in dez last year, no hard to find any reviews anywhere, nothing even on ebay. I've seen a british review for this one (MV757, $260), with the only apparent difference that the more expensive one does NOT include GPS (but it has a port for one). I can't find the link for the UK site now, maybe soon.

    MD12 (non GPS):

That's an interesting piece. Not too big either.

Looks like the GS600 supports up to 64GB.

I haven't tried the GS600 yet at night. I will post a pic when I do.

I plugged it in the other night but apparently I didn't push the plug in all the way

Yeah, night time video would be great! 1080p is very tempting, but again, I like the idea of a modular system (for upgrade and reliability). Can you tell me if the GS 600 supports real time monitoring (via HDMI or whatever?) while recording?

What I like about the above unit is that they claim 30FPS at their heightest resolution (704x480) on BOTH channels. Most of the dual channels (that are not $$$$) I've seen drop the frame rate on one or both to 15fps or even less (motion detection pictures).

I'm curious how portable these GS300 and 600 cams are. I live in a high-mv-prowl area and would want to bring it in with me when I park somewhere. Does it take much to detach and take it with me?

Just got this from a vendor (eTaroko), via Amazon for $135.00 (the main page shows what seems to be the same unit for $215). Unit arrived fast. You can also find something similar for $125 on ebay, but I'm not sure if it's the same unit.

    Here's some pictures:

Box Contents (sorry for the focus)

    The unit:

Size: 1.10 MB

The cheap Transcend 16GB class 10 SD card is not included of course.

It seems that there are a bunch of similar such units, probably cheap copies of some original I have no idea what is. The unit is light and it's all plastic. Accepts 5V dc and comes with two page, two color basic configuration guide with pictures and a 17 page B&W manual.
