So how does this system work? Do you record everything all the time or just when you get pulled over? I am really curious as to how this works. Is your cam in the front or back or both? Awesome work getting ticket reduced, sorry to hear about your wifey

This would be awesome in case of an accident as well.
Does anyone know how to record from a webcam in Windows Xp and make so it only stores the last 1 hour of video?

What software did you use to capture the video with the speed overlay?

I realise it's a little too late to be of assistance, but FYI the laser speed measuring devices used by Western Australian Police, the LTi 20-20 are tested prior to and following completion of speed checking duties, beginning and end of shift. The laser, which the above item is, is calibrated against a range, a measured distance set out at each station to test the above item. The distances are rechecked annually, in case they move? and signed off on. After completing the distance check successfully the scope is checked against an item approx 200m away, chimney, power pole, for alignment, the unit makes a certain noise when it crosses the item and has a red dot, noise together with visual confirmation means scope aligned correctly.

A reiteration: is there any chance you can go into greater detail about your gps-embedded video setup? I'm very impressed and want to learn more.

If they had challenged the accuracy of the GPS, couldn't you simply have run the video and calculate speed off of the points and distances of the road (lane dividing lines, telephone poles, etc.)?

dude erkme73! Can you please show us the components needed to get a setup like yours working? Perhaps links to the various parts for this setup, e.g. video overlay box, camera, software, etc.. THANKS!

Congrats to you for two things:

    1) You took it like an adult when it came to the ticket and its consequences. You could have shot for the moon to get the ticket tossed, but you took the high road.

    2) Good job standing up for yourself against the man.
