    GPS Removal or Standby

I was wondering if I can temporarily disable my GPS. Or completly remove it. I dont have time to go to the shop, so I gotta do it myself. It came with my brand new Mazda 6 I just bought.

I do alot of driving over the border and what not, just prefer to remove it, safety issues.

Thanks alot. If some can back to my by email asap it would be greatly appreciated.

Yes. Even if you change the screen the gps is still running.

I want my vehicle out of GPS entirely. I was told that I may have to remove a chip somewhere in my engine. I am just asking because I am not famililar with vehicle stuff at all.

But i need this out before I leave tonight.

Well this sounds a bit fishy.

Also are you aware that GPS does NOT transmit data such as location or anything. It only receives. I fail to understand how removing this will help you at all.

Maybe if you are an unguided drug lord and dont want the feds tracking you, you might think to remove the GPS, but it will have no effect. There is no way to determine your location based on a GPS receiver. Cell phones are a different story.

If you want to disable it, just cut the wires for the GPS antenna. Done.

    Cut the attena

The attena connected to the screen, or outside my car. I am no druglord. But i do have some feds bothering me all the time. The jus pulled me over last week, i have no idea how they found me. I think it was my gps because i have it connected to my cell phone and computer.

But i disconnected my cell and comp. Still i have a feeling the gps is connected to the sattellite.

Thx for the help though. Ganglord.

Ok, well that explains it, I get it now.

No they cannot track you via GPS no matter how hard they try. The entire physical working of GPS prevents this. It is not improbable, it is impossible!

However a cell phone is a dead giveaway. At any given time your phone is in communication with over 3 cell towers which lead to an easy triangulation. If your car has OnStar, then yes that can track you. But GPS by itself cannot.

The only way to disable tracking by cellphone, is to remove the battery. Turning off the phone in most cases does the same thing, but some phones LG and smartphones like HTC phones still communicate a bit when in "flight mode" or when they supposedly turn off their cell antenna. That is why they can update the time when you cross timezones.

The antenna will be from the outside of the car (probably looks like a shark fin) to the back of your HU's screen. You might just be able to unplug it, but again I must stress that it is physically impossible to track location by the use of GPS.

    Mate,

In the same way that you can't locate someone by them listening to the FM radio, nobody can find you while your car is 'listening' to the GPS signals from the satellites. You must transmit something for anyone to locate you.
I installed my carpc into my pet Kangaroo, mate.

So no onstar is available on that car, meaining they cannot track you through the factory car.

I have no idea what you have done, or what they think you have done but there is a very very very good chance that they have taken the liberty of installing a vehicle tracker to your car. Usually a tiny little black box stuck to the inside of your wheel well or under your car.

My uncle has had problems as well. Basically an international company centred in Canada but he was working in the states. My uncle traded water purifiers to Cuba and the US got all ****y because of the trade embargo. He was put under house arrest for the length of his trial all very unconstitutionally and against Canadian laws and regualtions. During this time, his phones were tapped, he and all his vehicles were tracked and all without his knowledge. I helped him find 3 of the 6 vehicle trackers just by visual inspections. The other 3 we were not able to find until they told us at the end of the trial.

Basically the US government does not follow any rules and they don't have to, so if you are being tracked, it is probably due to a seperate tracking module they have hidden in your car.

Oh, and if they are tracking your car, they are monitoring your computer useage, so yeah. They know. They probably knew before you even thought of posting it here!

    Bug Detector

I see. So I should purchase one of those bug detectors and sweep my car.

Do you know the approximate size of the black boxes?

    Thanks.
