Thanks for the info guys, I just checked my cpu usage with it and you are right. I'm looking into it right now.
I haven't had a problem with it slowing things down until this version.

Are you guys both using the mapmonkey plugin? I find that when connecting directly to the GPS it doesn't use any CPU when minimized but when running it with mapMonkey it is at a constant 6%. This is on a pretty fast computer too.

Yes using mapmonkey... the program itself doesnt seem to be misbehaving when sed by itself, but when I go into road runner the frontend becomes really slow...
this is on an athlon 1ghz
I am using MM, and i'm on a PIII 933, with 256 Meg. So it causes a decent amount of hurt
Ah, dang. Sorry about that guys. I'm not sure why interfacing with MapMonkey would make it go so slow because MapMonkey itself doesn't use a lot of CPU. I'll look at the MM thread.

There are 4 lines of code that are making it slow:
1 line to grab the latitude from MM, 1 for the longitude, 1 for the speed, and 1 for the direction. I comment those lines out and it runs nice and fast. I'll have to ask Ninja Monkey why it would be taking so long to hand over the info. If I change the update time from 1 second to 2 seconds I can watch it jump from 0 to 6% CPU usage and back and forth. It seems to take about a second to get the updated information. If you want I can change the refresh rate with MapMonkey to 2 seconds of more, that way it will spike every time it needs an update but at least it won't be spike all of the time.

I'll wait for NM to help you iron out the spiking issue...
Anyways, it isnt really useable for me without the web frontend, because when I'm in school (50% of the time I'm interested in checking where my car is), I am unable to access unstadnard ports
Ya, I've got the same problem when I am at school. I can put it on a differant port but I didn't want to put it on one that might be used by another application.Originally Posted by RoyN

I uploaded a newer version that has the option for starting when Windows starts. It also makes it refresh with MapMonkey every 2 seconds to hopefully speed things up.
