Ok, I need a little help setting this up.
OK, I downloaded the files, and unzipped the client
There were three files in there.
When I run the .exe file, it runs the program fine. My question is this, is there supposed to be an actual installer that adds it into windows? Or, do these files needs to be unpacked somewhere specific?

When I run the .exe file it runs fine, I can set it up and use it fine. But....when I restart the machine, it doesn't start with Windows, minimized based on the settings I configured.

What am I missing? Like I said I need to manually run the file and it works fine. It just doesn't seem like it's actually installed. I tried putting it in my startup folder, so it'll auto start with windows.

When I do that, it does auto start, but it doesn't minimize. Almost like it's not using the configuration settings I made in the setup page.

    Please advise. Thanks

Try setting it up to start up and minimize and whatnot, but set the GPS input to MapMonkey. That is what made the settings take for me. xBrady said he's going to look into that little thing for me, and if someone else has that problem it may help him to figure out what it is.

you shouldnt be having problems... you should extract the files to a specific directory, and then make a shortcut in your start up folder... then restart your machine, when it starts configure it with your settings (like auto minimize, etc) this should make it so it is using the config file you intend when it restarts from the startup...

no installer or anything is required or supplied at this point...

I'm sure brady can help you further if it still doesnt work

Just wondering, has anyone gotten one of those COM splitters to work with the Delorme Earthmate USB to Serial converter driver?
I only tried one of the splitter programs, the one that was listed as the best, and it won't do it.
The driver is set up as COM3, and when I try running the spliiter program, it says 'Invalid COM port, or the driver is confused'. (this is when I first boot up the machine, before I run anything that may use that COM port, btw).

The splitter I used is XPort. Just wondering if anyone else had better luck with the other splitters that were listed in that thread.

The only one I could get to work with my GPS was the second one: serial splitter. Bytheway, on your previous question, there is an option in the settings for having it start with Windows (will only work on XP). Did you get that working?

No, I was unable to get it to work, without manually putting GPS Secure in my startup folder. When I do that, it'll start with XP, but it still won't minimize automatically.

I'll have more time to play with it later. I will be trying serial splitter tonight as well....I'll let you know if I have better luck with that
