I apologize if this is already mentioned but im at work and havent read all 19 pages. this is exactly what i was hoping somone would write and i think its a great idea for vehicle recovery!!! I have a suggestion... what about having the option for it to log server information at the same time? this way if it spends alot of time in some spot you can grab, say the ip address and network information it sends from. im going to have an 802.11g card hooked into my carputer so if the theif drives by a hotspot or brings the car to his own place(ive seen dumber) when it transmits the information you get that little extra information. ip address can mean name resolution when the cops call their internet provider or however. im going to be following this project and see if maybe you could use another beta tester after I get my carputer up and running...

New version: Now allows for more frequent logs and server uploads. You can now set it to 15+ seconds between position logging. Soon to come will be live tracking and added web client features.

If it comes to it and you need the IP address you can talk to me. I don't really see the need for it if you have it logging your position using your GPS.

Hopefully you haven't downloaded it yet. I just uploaded a newer version that fixes one problem that the one I uploaded last night had. It was logging every 15 seconds but it wasn't logging the time like it was supposed to. So it should all be working now.

I know it has been a long time since I have made any significant improvements but they are coming. I just recently finished finals and have been working on doing the Live tracking since then. Everything is ready with that except for doing the javascript part of it. I'm fairly new to javascript so this is taking some time. I've got one method that works well but it is effecient enough on the server end for me so I am working on an alternative.
I did make one improvement, I added the longitude and latitude to the Google (logged) display. If you didn't see it earlier there is the speed gauge created by DashCommand. I'm going to be adding a gauge for the time and direction in the near future too.

Finally got this up and running on my PC, helps if the desktop client has the same username as the car!

Does anyone have any tips on how setup Xport, it won't allow my to choose the GPS feed for the input yet.....

No worries, the app is currently in pretty decent shape. It runs on my car daily and dumps the file whenever it gets a connection to the server. Seamless and automatic!

I'll be interested in the live tracking, however! I've got an old Nokia that works fine but I wouldn't mind trading it in on a bluetooth model that could broadcast position when I was in the car.

    Brady,

Can I get into the beta program? I'm just building a test install for the car with MapMonkey, I'll robably have WiFi too but no BT yet due to a shortage of USB ports (for now). I'm running Win98 so a serial splitter is unlikely, does the MM integration enable GPSSecure to pull its data from MapMonkey - meaning no splitter required?

    Chris.

PMed you. Ya if you have MapMonkey then no splitter is needed. It is still untested on Win98 but it should work as along as you install the .NET Framework.
