My face won't be an LCD screen. The LCD screen will be put elsewhere. The face will be a custom made panel designed to look like a factory radio face. It will have volume control (hall effect sensors), a radio tuner, an LED character screen like the ones you see on CD players (typical 4x20), and any other things you find on typical modern factory radios, plus perhaps USB ports and any other inputs that I can think of which are needed in front.

PS: I forgot to mention that I will make a hole for the slimline DVD/CD drive like the one here:

Also, I intend to make this carputer removable by unscrewing a few bolts or screws.
Check out my GMC Savana worklog.

Remaining tasks to facilitate vanputer installation codename "Enterprise":
    - Edit skin to liking.
    - Get compatible phone for mobilephone.net.
    - Facilitate HVAC control.

    For The Win.

You really should learn to use the multi-quote feature.
Have you looked in the FAQ yet?
    How about the Wiki?

Under normal circumstances, a signature would go here.

I built the two that I had, but that was because I was doing it back when there were no pre-built systems to buy.

Although now that I think about it, I would still build it myself even with pre-built systems to buy. It's just much more satisfying, imo.

I could tell you lots. But it might be more fun for you to click on the link on the left that lists the specs, and to follow the link below to my homepage.
Only you know what you want to know. Ask specific questions...!

I thought FTW meant F... the World. (meaning doing it your own way)
From a Tower with 4x40 LCD, to ThinkPad with cantenna, to MP3Car rig....Flux Capacitor is next...as soon as I get my Mercedes with built-in toilet and meatloaf oven.

I've always built all of my own computers, so when I decided to build a carPC, it was no different. Plus, I've got tons of parts lying around!
