    courtesy light

I would like to make a courtesy light for my car (a light that slowly dims to off). I think that I would just need to place a capacitor and a diode in there nd it would slowly let out energy till it died....but if that was the case, what capacitor would I need? If there is any better way to do this please tell me.

Thanks to anyone who even reads this.
