Qualms with carputer in Sub box?

I did a quick search and didnt find anythig.

Do you guys think there are any problems with putting a carputer in a speaker box? It's already taking up a lot of room There are only two problems i forsee:

    1. Vibration from sub would cause damage to mobo/cpu. I would probably mount the hdd somewhere close but not on the box.

    2. Sound quality would suffer.

If you guys can suggest anything that would be awesome. I have a pretty small car (93 mazda mx3) so space is crucial. Thanks

my friend had an usblaster amp mounted on its boombox, and the amp gone dead! we tried to repair it, but not only the potmeters were damaged, the whole PCB with soldering points were shaked, and totally died! we gave up the repair project, there were too much damage on the board... and this amp had strong thick alucase, and were mounted on the sub, not inside! so, i think that you should forget this...

well, I wouldnt recommend a HD mounted near it, but to tell my own story.

I have had 2 amps mounted to a box with 2 12" subs for almost 10 years and Ive never had an issue with it.

i think this depends on the quality of the box... most of the cheap boomboxes are extruded paper. a good box starts from 15-16-18mm MDF board, and will never shake the mounted amp. but if you put the board inside, the low freq waves will kill it soon...

I don't think you picked up on my sarcasm. Your inner ear works on air pressure and reverberations to produce sound. So if you put your head inside the box, the sound pressure would probably be so intense it would bust your ear drums clean out and likely do the same to your hard drive or whatever else you put in there. There's way too much sound pressure inside those boxes to put volatile hardware anywhere near it. You might be okay with any non moving parts.

LMAO!!!! Computer in a sub box, did you forget that there is a HUGE magnet fixed to the speaker. I guess you wouldnt have a cooling problem for the computer if the box is ported...
