OBC interface?

I guess this would only be interesting for those of you owning a BMW E36 with the full OBC (18 buttons).
Anyway - wouldnt it be cool to "tap in" to the data that the OBC displays? The info available; Outside temperature, fuel consumption, speed and diagnosis codes.
I have lots of ideas for this (ofc :) ), but not alot of electronic knowledge :/
Anyhow, this is the information I have gathered;

Plug 1 (X1070):

Harness 2 (X1071):

14 - Independent ventilation relay

And the info i could find from the Check control module;
- Left headlight
- Right headlight
- Wash water level
- Cooland level

So, alot of data available here. How to best gather it..? :)

I have these features working on my e36 car PC using some hardware that I built. I'm also able to display the outside temperature using the factory sensor. Any interest in me building/selling the hardware for this? I'll soon have a Centrafuse pluging that displays this data.

It is currently on a prototype breadboard but is working very well. It is connected to some of the pins on the black OBC connector and connects to the PC via USB/FTDI serial interface. Every 30 seconds it transmits the outside temp. The check control status is transmitted every time its state changes. I'll post some pictures of the Centrafuse plugin once I clean it up a bit.

Any luck on the consumption, range displays etc?
Or actually sending data to the display, ie for song names etc.

Haven't tried consumption/range as my car had an 11 button OBC without those features.

There is no way to send data to the display without modifying it. I didn't attempt that since I removed my OBC to make room for the car PC LCD.
