    A compact ATX cable ?

    Hi,

A standard 20-pin atx cable has:

    7 black- (Gnd) wires
    4 red (5V) wires
    3 orange (3.3V) wires
and yellow, blue, purple, grey, green & white

and is a pain in the (you-know-what) to manage in small cases.

For a low power mobo, is it safe to rewire the atx extension between psu and mobo with fewer and silicone insulated (softer) wires per rails (with adaptated gauge) ?

    something like :
    2 x gnd wires, 2 x 5V wire & 2 x 3.3V, others remaining untouched.
Now Galileo is real. Muhahahahaha :p

    Yes.

That will be no problem. If you get the wires too long or use a too thin gauge, you will experience a unstable system. You won't destroy anything trying.

    Go for it.
