What is your invoice number? I will check it out. I can't tie you to an order with just your username. I had a small stock of old boards I was using to send out to anybody who requested a refund because it was taking too long to get their units to them so possibly you fell into this bracket.Agree the new board looks to be a huge improvement, So why then when i just ordered 2 weeks ago did i get the old one?! Without any notice that this would be the case?
If it shows at http://www.craigbrasssystems.com/clientarea/ as Pending Dispatch or Awaiting Stock under My Shipments, you'll be getting a new board when they arrive with us around the 20th of this month.i ordered mine about 1 week or so ago and I only did this to get the new one before the price goes up and our AUD is at a decent level to shop
Yeah that! I got an old board
what is the difference other than the massive capacitors not being there?
I cant even get mine to work, I have tried every option and download in the forum thread and still to no avail. I just get "invalid port selection"
Anyone have any ideas? I feel like I have wasted a lot of money at the moment. When I pay that amount of money for something I expect it to work without too many problems!
588 was posted on the 20th of last month and this used the version 1 board. 686 looks like it has been cancelled and refunded - you must of requested this directly with us.
Well the main difference is an audio driver chip now gets audio first to process it. This improves the sound greatly.what is the difference other than the massive capacitors not being there?
Can you contact me using http://www.coolapplab.com/contact_us/index.html and I will work with you to get the unit working.I cant even get mine to work, I have tried every option and download in the forum thread and still to no avail. I just get "invalid port selection"
Craig, all of us with V1.0 boards I am sure are wondering how "greatly" improved the sound is now compared to what our boards produce...
- is there less noise ?
- is the signal level higher ?
- is the channel separation better ?
- is the frequency response wider ?

Our Ultimate Computer DAB / FM Radio unit changes this. Powered and controlled via USB with audio output via a 3.5mm audio jack to avoid interference
Now all of the sudden the USB over audio "Greatly" (as you say) improve the sound quality. On his site he make it sound that the USB cable is picking up interference and so decided to use the "3.5mm audio jack" to avoid interference. Im not so sure if I can make any sense out of it.
I doubt the ADC used is much better than a standard sound card. The only difference is the convenient of having the sound and control are both on the same USB cable. It would be "greatly" if he is taking the digital audio signal directly from the venice 7 and sending them over the USB cable or maybe use the SPDIF.
When you are trying to sell something, you got to say what you got to say I guess. But cant expect people not to notice when you do that in a technical forum. Im not sure where I saw this "matched pair tantalums" and "each module is tested in sub zero temp, high temp as well as subjected to vibration" to ensure best quality product or something along that line. Its shocking to see a claim on such product when a real HQ product would be too embarassed to claim it.
It's a load of bull TBH. The difference is negligible, you'd be hard pressed to tell the difference even in a back to back test. Which I have done.
In some environments, yes.- is there less noise ?
Not really.is the signal level higher ?
Slightly.is the channel separation better ?
No.is the frequency response wider ?
