if the pins make contact then it will work with no issues.

Just make sure the pins make contact, you might have to "sand" the female bit on the main board to make sure you get a good contact. The sony venice 5's have short pins.
The epitome of Function over form and is probably the best Car PC in Europe.

The short pins will be no problem because I intend to replace them with longer ones. Will this work as a slave unit with RoadRunner ?
The road is long but we are getting there.

Just a quick mod to the daughterboard (Venice7 module) as i didnt like the metal screws
    Looking good, Kosti.

Now were would the best place be to place a LED for on/off display, which is ideal for bench testing - i could look for some voltage points, but i assume some of the already made holes could be for power indication?
Well you could do it at various places with the easiest being the pin 1 and 3 where it connects to the Venice chip.

The Aerial I was looking at is something like a Kinetic DRA-1001. http://www.dabonwheels.com/Kinetic_D...ar_aerial.html However the UK sites do not send this aerial to AU, only the crappy magnetic mount, unamplified unit. Anyone know where I can get a Roof-top aerial like this in AU or anyplace in UK than sends to AU.

I think it has already been said before, but having the sound going through USB instead of a jack connector, and adding an ISO connector for FM reception would be awesome if you could do it (then it would really be the ultimate radio for carpc)

Audio over USB won't be happening for a long while, if at all. It adds a lot to the cost and actually causes degrade in quality we have found.

We sell SMB to Motorola connectors when you place your order.
