if there is an amp, chances are it will have a filter on it so DAB frequencies won't work.

if you basically have a pole like fitted to toyota starlets where you can move the thing in and out and its unamplified you should get a decent signal.

If you've got a beesting aerial which is fitted to most Vauxhalls/Opels, Peugeots, Volkswagens, then almost guaranteed that you will need a new aerial.

Craig Brass may have had permission from nrgizerbunny to use the circuitboard design, but he certainly did not have permission from the rest of the collaborators on the diy-project. A huge of breach of trust if you will, certainly has created a LOT of ill feeling on the forum because nrgizerbunny has profitted (sold the design) from a lot of people's hard work.

You'd be well advised to read the original thread, especially if you have all the parts and a bit of electrical knowledge, as it's quite expensive when it can be done for a lot less than that!! Definitely if you're abroad and have to factor in customs/shipping etc.

@Carerra: Actually, I emailed Chris when I first was interested. He was fine with it based on a number of facts :-
1. I was purchasing chips with the correct firmware on them rather than getting them from radios and flashing firmware from other companies.
2. The software I was planning to use was 100% developed by our company and not anything to do with the software released on Digital Car.
3. The design of the board is a custom design tuned specifically for Car PC use. It does not even resemble the one released by Chris.

As such, me and Chris don't have a problem with each other.

The units I am selling are aimed at people without the skills / time to solder components on, find a suitable radio for a Venice chip and sort it all out.

I should have something available in the next few days. Just fine tuning everything including trying to get the production price as low as possible to reduce my initial price estimate.

There's a lot of bitter ars**oles over there, i've never known such petty jealousy, you should all get a life.

I think its high time the moderators banned half of you from Digital-Car.

I just have taken to ignoring it and so has nrgizerbunny. The facts are simple: People want a pre-built unit. I have had loads of emails, PMs, etc requesting one of these units and asking me when they will be ready. nrgizerbunny clearly has sold many in the past too. If there wasn't a market, people would not be buying them!

Somebody tells me there will be pre-built PCB's for sale at around the £10 mark for those not brave enough to make there own

Nope ... all gone.
I have read ALL 115 pages of the referred thread on digital-car UK forum and the referenced other threads and both Chris31 and nrgb have removed all their posts which relate to the powersupply circuit and venice flasher board circuit and the firmware for flashing the venice was never posted as public information due to legalities related to reverse-engineering the venice module.

Total = £45.50 including postage in UK.
Compare this with your £80-£100 and that is around a 100% markup and most companies I know of (even the global comany I work for) usually think that a 35% markup on costs is a great margin with the break-even margin being around 15%. Ofcourse it all depends on volume and turn-over so I am very interested in your final released cost based on these figures.

£10.70 was for an unbuilt board (only ten were sold at that price).
