Thread: FM/DAB digital radio - THAT WORKS!!

Was there ever a resolution to this one?

Right now my radio is stuck on absolute and I am unable to change channels except in FM mode.
I can scan for new dab channels and find many but still unable to change channel.
I tried using craigs radio.exe standalone and that works absolutely fine.

Somewhere there's a c*RruPt3d FiL3 but I have no idea where it is.

So it looks like we're all gonna have to go and get another venice module now with sony FW if we wanna use CF 3.5 now?

you know... CB should at least check in here and let everyone who purchased one he is still involed..
if i paid for one, and used it with CF, id not be a happy camper, god i hate that saying...

course if you use it with RideRunner, its a much better experience

I'm seriously thinking about going down the slave F/W route as there are issues with the master F/W not to mention the now lack of support in CF 3.5

A few questions.....

Do you have any ideas where I can get hold of a V7 module with the sony slave firmware already flashed for sensible money?

There are loads of Sony radios available with the 5 or 5.1 modules but I'd like to stick with the 7's for signal sensitivity reasons although they're only very slight.
Alternatively, are there any sources for the firmware and the flash utility?

Unfortunately, I think Craig's business model was to always stack up pre-orders before he had actual stock; relying on the fact stock was due to come in - in a timely manner.

When the stock doesn't come in however.....

we dont really have anything working with venice7 slave code...

and E, that has nothing to do with riderunner!

I didn't say it was to do with RideRunner, the CB DAB did that. (I suspect to a badly soldered Cap).

I seem to remember someone saying that the venice 5 / 7 sony slave firmware uses the same commands and were interchangeable. not too sure but I think it was nrgizerbunny.

Anyway, I'm definately gonna start tinkering a bit myself now and are becoming more convinced that slave mode is the way to go.

Just out of curiosity, do you have any of your boards left that you'd like to sell?

That was a red herring, the Slave FW for the Venice 7s that I have seen are nowhere near the same as the Venice 5.

You are correct, the slave firware is the best way to go (IMO). However, I think most people are not equipped to flash their own modules.
