Thread: FM/DAB digital radio - THAT WORKS!!

a quick review of this, i have to put up a big thumbs down on its API..
basically in MASTER FIRMWARE MODE, its serial interface is recieved as 2 lines of 16 chars each of text
with a transmit of button mask press and releases

the SLAVE firmware is FAR better, at this point, i cannot produce a good RR plugin
the Radio text alone, will be UGLY, as the FIRMWARE only transmits 16 chars
so.. to a message that is say 64 bytes long, the same message transmits over and over, sliding one char to the left
where SLAVE frimware i can get the FULL message in one swoop
also.. at any given moment ONLY 1 piece of information is avail
remember its a 2 line LCD display of 16 chars
to see another piece of information, one would have to send the DISPLAY command button-press, button-release, then the display's info changes... but again, without a complete tracking of the EXPECTED information, you have NO IDEA what the info is

the rate that this updates, would be a nightmare for RR or anyfront end
like i said, they expect this to be a LCD!!

sure we could make the buttons do things, like scroll up and scroll down, and select...
but as for the returned data... at this point i dont know if there is anything i can do to
process it
at normal rate, RR screens are updated once a second... way to slow for this
or certin labels update on change, ie frequency... but not RDS artist and such...

I'll put some thought into this... but right now, I dont like it! as for someone who worked on ALL the different radios, silabs, hd radio, wintv, cinergy, dlink... i know what i like, and i dont like this
