Yes, they do. See the earlier posts from RevHeadKev. He even posted a video.

Thanks Craig, wasn't sure where to look in a 21 page thread![]()
i think openmobile's plugin is for VENICE5 (slave firmware), not the VENICE 7 as being built by craigbrass
(at least it sure looks like that)
but could be wrong, just reading whats on the page...
-Thanks

As of now it's for the Venice5 modules that was orginally built by NrgizerBunny. As far as I've understood the units from CraigBrass is not directly compatible with the ones from NrgizerBunny (at least on the software side) even though I seem to remember that it was claimed that the software should be compatible somewhere in this thread (too much to read trough).
Failure is not an option...

That being said, though, they have contacted me for details so they can create a Venice 7 Master Mode plugin, too, so expect one in the next couple of months...
Let me clear this up.Why would the VENICE7 not be using slave firmware?
Venice 5 and 5.1 have the same command set for both Master and Slave. The only difference is 5.1 supports DAB+ where as 5 doesn't.
For Master, the command set is *VERY* similar for the 7 as it is for 5 / 5.1. For slave, the command set has changed rather dramatically and needs a software rewrite to work.
For the "build it yourself" community, the software provided is Venice 5 / 5.1 in Slave mode. My full units are based on the Venice 7 in Master mode. The reason for this is that we are not taking radios apart to get these modules like the "build it yourself" community but are buying the units on their own. Frontier Silicon, who make the Venice 7, charge $50,000 one off fee to licence the Slave firmware (they won't budge on this point and we are obviously not selling enough units to make this worthwhile) so we have to stick with the Master which, in our software, is working with the majority of functions from Slave anyway so it is fine.
