The following countries use Dab/dab+ which is an open standard (as opposed to hd Radio), UK, germany, france, italy, spain, norway, sweden, finland, denmark, switzerland, austria, australia, new zealand, s. africa, canada

car pcs and especially their power supplies give off noise which can make fM and AM reception poor.DAB is a digital signal and much more immune to interference.

this radio will pick up FM as well but i didn't design my board for that. I am planning on modding the board slightly to improve fm performance but frankly if you have dab you won't go back.

I don't want to knock the cartft tuner but that is very similar to the sliabs radio which didnn't give me as good reception as this one. Even on FM.

What CarTFT tuner are you talking about? I can't find any DAB tuner at http://cartft.com.
Did you instead mean the Dabby tuner from DigitalNow that was linked to earlier in this topic?

    Hi Chester,

Have not seen that USB Dabby radio before, as for the Bush Radio it is a bit of a process which i have not currently done as yet, your best to look at the digital-car forum for further details

The CF3 plugin is a DAB+ compatible based on the 5.1 module.

I probably didnít word my response very well.

What I actually meant to say was, the CarTFT FM USB radio is based on a very similar chipset to the silabs/ADS radio that was the rage around here not so long ago.

In my case the FM reception on that radio was poor, this doesnít seem to be isolated either

The FM reception on the Venice is much better even though my test PCB is optimised for DAB. I didnít give the FM side of things a thought and it is still heaps better. Iíve got a dead spot but I think I can fix that.

The inherent problem is not the radio as such, itís the power supply, for instance when I use my EEE PC I get perfect FM reception across the board because its running on batteries, when I use an Opus, I have no problems, when I use an M2-ATX I get a slight hiss and static on certain FM frequencies, AM is unlistenable. On DAB there is crystal clear reception on every station.

the problem with DAB+ is, as most of us are in the UK, we have no way of testing it. So basically we can send the software out but cannot guarantee it will work. The DAB will work as we can test it.

Are you talking about the plugin from Andywhittaker, the plugin from Chris31 or a new plugin that I've not come across?

If it's one of the above plugins then I think you are wrong (please correct me if things have changed since I last looked), both Chris31 and Andywhittaker use the same Venice5 as the rest of us and not the Venice5.1.
