    Antennas

Hi All, been doing a bit of searching on Antennas, this could be of interest to the Aussies.

I found this one on the Aerpro site:
    http://www.aerpro.com.au/list.php?pc...+ANT.&cat_sno=

When you click on the catalogue link at the top of the page and take a closer look at it, it seems to have 3 cables, I'm guessing one (pair) for power and I assume one for AM/FM and one for DAB+. Does that sound right? There are Aerpro stockist in lots of places in Aus.

From the pics it looks similar to this one from DAB on wheels, but I'm not sure if the connections are the same?:

Also, Kev, I saw in that Aerpro catalogue on page V-1 they have an adapter at the bottom of that page. Would that suit your requirement?

If anyone had some feedback on these antennas it would be appreciated. (Hope I'm not hijacking the thread, just let me know if you want it moved)

i made an smb to motorola cable from some rg316, an smb connector and a trip to maplins for a connector.

other alternative would be to use an smb to sma connector and then sma to motorola

The hirschmann, kinetic and blaupunkt antennas are all very similar. i think they are probably made in the same factory. one wire is power, it grounds through the aerial base, the other two wires are am/fm and dab
The epitome of Function over form and is probably the best Car PC in Europe.

The antennas with multiple connectors will mean connecting the DAB cable to the module will only let you pickup DAB (no FM). You will need a combiner to connect both the DAB and FM antenna cables to the one input cable to the module. Others have already tried that overseas.

Unfortunately the adapter in the Aerpro catalogue you mention states it is not suitable for amplified (powered) antennas which my Xtrail has because it is a short roof-mounted model.

I thought of making my own cable as you did but soldering or crimping the cable onto the small SMB connector looked tricky hence thinking a premade one is better.

I bought a SMB cable from this website http://www.rfshop.com.au/Home/tabid/...1/Default.aspx and bought a solderless female motorola socket with some heatshrink from jaycar and put it all together. In the end you get the same thing as the mo-co-so one for about 20 bucks

    Kev,

True, I hadn't thought of combining the two. Looks like it will get a bit tricky.

How'd you go with that ebay seller to see if he/she would ship the adapters to Aus? Considering I have already butchered my antenna lead, I think the best option for me would be to buy a motorola plug and resurrect it properly then use the same combo of adapters that you mentioned. Even if for some reason it doesn't work with the standard antenna, its only going to have cost less than $15 to find out.

    Cheers, Tom.

Can't find your cable on that website. search for SMB only shows connectors.

    @soyfish
No response from the seller yet, but the listing does say will ship OS and to contact for costs. So I just have to wait for their response to find out how much. Stay tuned...

You can check http://www.rfstreet.com , they have a lot of kind of connectors, except maybe the motorola one, and they sell custom cables.

    Hi Graig,

the standalone programme still doesn't works on any computer, even after installing the runtime libraries

I still have a lot of issues with this release on FM mode, still looking for DAB broadcast in France:
    - Sometimes the plugin don't start the radio, need to quit Centrafuse and restart the radio with the radio.exe program.
    -Sometimes the plugin freeze.
-while running it stops and start the radio alone

    And missing features:
    - fine tuning
    - Replace * key by a dot key will be helpfull to add stations manually
    - Edit the list (del, rename)
    - Save conifiguration in config.xml instead english.xml
    - Support mutlilanguage, if I create a french.xml file it's not handle.

    Manu.
