Ok, I finally got around to finishing off the manual. Still work to do on it but latest version is at http://www.craigbrasssystems.com/get...hp?download=22

Anyone unable to get their unit detected on some computers should look at the "Changing Maximum Bus Power" section which should fix the issue.

Should have another build of the Centrafuse plugin later today fixing a few minor issues.

Craig,

I hope this feedback is taken in the spirit it is offered.

I will not buy this unit for a couple of reasons:
1. Price. As an add-on to an existing system, the price of this unit is more than what I paid for CentraFuse
2. Audio output. I already pass my audio from the laptop into my head unit. Why would I want to pass audio from the radio to the laptop via the audio jack? Why isn't the digital audio passed to the laptop via USB so it can then just be decoded/streamed/sent to the laptop audio out?

Other than the above I applaude you for your efforts and from all account what looks to be top-notch support.

Dave

Thank you for your comments Dave.

1. Software is always cheaper than hardware, though, remember. Also, our unit is still cheaper than the one other unit I consider an alternative - the HQCT. All other radios that have Centrafuse plugins either have software problems or don't give good audio quality. Also, our unit is the only DAB / DAB+ unit available.
2. This unit is designed for people who have removed their head units really. I removed mine to save space when fitting the screen.

EDIT: Reworded the software / hardware bit to say software is cheaper than hardware.

1. This is a fair comment and I guess everyone's idea of a reasonable price is different.
2. The majority of people junk the headunit and go:

PC> amplifier >speakers

Hence the need to send the audio to the line in or mic input.

The Audio can be streamed to the USB socket, however this will exceed the power output of the majority of motherboards by pulling almost 750mA of current. The easiest way around this would be to have the machine use two USB ports. This would eliminate the problem. This is doable but its expensive. I'm still working on a board but I have run into some problems with poor sound quality and I don't want to let users have a prototype that I know is rubbish.

I have a small problem with my unit. I use the FM part of the unit and when I try to scan the unit only jumps for 1 or 2 steps at a time, for example when I press the scan button and the radio is on fm 95.70 it goes just to 95.75 or 95.80 and stops scaning even that there is no radio station on that freq. When scan button is pressed again the unit goes from 95.80 to 95.85 or 95.90

I am using RideRunner, newest version and I have the unit scan settings on "STRONG STATION ONLY"

Any ideas??

Centrafuse 3.1 Plugin v31.4

Especially to the DIY scene that has been quiet of late.

OK, I built myself an SPI programmer, thanks to TunedWolf. Got out my spare Venice 5 to replace the dead one and sucessfully re-flashed it to the slave firmware.

Now my radio works again, am in a good mood and am feeling love for my CarPC again

Changes Since the Last Release
1. Suspend now works (possibly).
2. Various changes to the driver to make it more stable.
3. Changes to the GUI.
4. The text parser doesn't duplicate some of the station characters.
5. Grey hair.
Download the plugin here: DAB_CFv31.4.zip

Centrafuse 2.x and 3.0 Support
1. None.

User Manual
1. None - someone needs to do this or a small explanation how the buttons work.

BUGS
1. Various

FUTURE
1. Something special with Venice 7 coming soon

Hi Craig

I've still got a couple of issues with the latest plugin, but am also happy to say that several issues were indeed fixed with the latest version! The plugin is no longer maxing out the WAV volume in the mixer, and the on/off cycling seems better (although it does still do it on occasion, if the state of the radio, and the state that the plugin thinks that the radio should be in get missmatched).

Issues are:

- Plugin is still not controlling audio sources correctly, specifically I have to go into the windows mixer and manually turn on and off 'monitor' mode for the line-in in order to hear the radio source.

- Pressing the voice control button while the radio is playing does not work - starts making horrible noises - again, this looks like audio source issues

- Stations I ask it to store dont stick, I had three stored stations under FM and a couple in DAB they has dissapeared after I restarted CF.

- If I go from radio into playing tracks, then the radio stops, but the audio source is left switched on (noise getting mixed by the mixer). If I then hit the voice control button then I get even more noise superimposed over the audio. To cure this I go into windows and manually turn off 'monitor' mode for the line-in.

I've made a video of these issues, but its gotten over compressed so you cant hear much... Its at I'll upload a better one when I get home. Its a bit repetative by the way!!

Congrats on getting on the CF compatible list. You'll be even keener to use your bretheren here to fix the remaining issues now I guess since once it gets 'in the wild' there will be many more people getting obscure issues like I have :-)

Kind Regards

Nigel
