Well thats interesting...I just pulled apart my DAB+ radio that I have for home (OXX Digital Classic 600), and it uses a Venice 6 module?

Haven't heard of that one, and the pin interface on the board is about twice the length of the ones in your pics nrgizerbunny.

It appears to provide FM, DAB+, LAN and WiFi onto a single board? I know thats what the unit supports....but could be interesting!

Would anyone have access to a datasheet on the Venice 6?

Not sure what use that would be for a CarPC though?

Cheers. So the xdrs55 one will go straight in, no kissin, with the RR V5 plugin then?

I think mine seems to be the 6.0 version, not the 6.2:

I see it supports i2c and spdif audio, would that still have the same issues as the 5.1 and 7 modules where its turned off in the firmware?

The other parts (wifi and the like) wouldn't be much use, but its definitely interesting to see what they can jam onto one little board!

Nice compact design nrgizerbunny, but I have one suggestion if I may ... I would like to see the board a little squarer so that you could align all the connectors (3.5, usb, aerial). This would make fitting into a box simpler I think because all the connectors would be flush with the cover if you understand what I am trying to explain.

Hi Kev, I'm open to suggestions.

The main issue was real estate under the signal lines of the FTDI chip. I seriously shrunk the caps to make it smaller and to get everything on the board.

The footprint is essentially the same as the Venice 5/5.1 or 7. I can easily make it bigger but this costs marginally more and is essentially a downgrade.

What OS are you running on? If it is WinXP, you need a .NET 3.5, for Vista & Win7, you should be able to see the plugin.

Will this board be for sale anytime soon?
I have rights to the previous board and this board from nrgizerbunny as per an agreement we both signed. Although I will purchase these designs from him as well, a fully USB version won't be available for 4-5 months at least for a few reasons.

nrgizerbunny: Just replied to your email. Not sure where the emails you mentioned went but I never got them.

With regards to the users who have reported software problems, expect a new build to be out in the next few days that should fix them.

So it's on the CF supported hardware list but the plugin still doesn't work properly? Poor show really seen as CF and the hardware aint free.

RR boys got their free plugin working ages ago, and is rock solid.
