    Alternator Whine Gone

I was in my local Maplin store and caught sight of a Ferrite ring.

Hmmm, I wonder if that would cure my alternator whine?

    YEP!

I think the DAB project has gone since CB took over, and what do i see, more and more agress on it. Good that there soon will be an alternative for those who know that better quality are availble and want that.
Blessed are the "cracked" for it is they who let in the light.

    Here's the spec

    1. Venice 5.1 DAB/DAB+ and FM
    2. Slave firmware, runs with AndyWhittaker's plugin or the Venice 5 on RoadRunner
    3. Audio over USB using a TI PCM2902 Chip or 3.5mm Jack
    4. Draws 456mA under full load, Approximately 520mA on plugin
    5. Only 52 x 45mm
    6. Extremely large ground plane so less interference and more sensitivity

Good to see there is mounting holes on the v2 board, so will i need to sell a kidney to get one?

Whats this about another DAB+ project is someone else making them (better product)??

    Guys, I am massively excited!!

Has anyone in Australia picked up the October 2010 issue of Silicon Chip?

There is a design in it for a DAB+ and FM tuner built using a Venice 7 chip!

Even better.....it will be in part of a kit offered for sale by Jaycar Electronics in Australia in December, including a Venice 7 with slave firmware AND WORKING SPDIF AND I2C!!

There aren't any prices as yet, but I have emailed Jaycar to see if they will be offering just the Venice 7 module on its own, but guys, this could be the part we are waiting for!

Imagine! Not having to rip apart a radio, then try to fiddle around with replacing firmware! Imagine having pure, clean, digital audio straight to your carpc!

Please tell me someone is dead keen on this!!!

If anyone wants a copy of the article (It is for a full designed radio, with controller board and LCD and all that guff), let me know, I can grab a snappy of the pages and forward them on.

Will let you guys know if Jaycar confirm that they will be offering the Venice 7, as I think they will deliver to most places too....

    *dribble*

Chester are you sure you have this correct ?
If it comes with a controller and LCD wouldn't it have master software ?
Does anyone know if the Venice7 slave firmware is compatable with the Venice5 slave firmware ? If so then we would have the RR plugin already, otherwise you would need another one developed for it. Sure in the Venice5 the slave firmware was vastly better than the master firmware for control, but we have the RR plugin working for the Venice7 with master firmware now.
I'll sneak a peak at the mag monday sometime.

Venice 5 and 7 master firmware are near identical. The slave firmware was rewritten for Venice 7 on the other hand and this is where a decision was taken by Frontier to start charging a one off fee to get the API documentation while leaving master as free.

I agree with you Kevin - if it is for driving an LCD screen directly without any control hardware in between to manage the commands then it is unlikely that it is slave firmware.

    Chester is correct.

A quick google would give you this http://www.siliconchip.com.au/cms/A_112141/article.html

It clearly state that they are using the module in slave mode. The DsPIC is used to control the slave module. All you need to do is design a carrier board and create a plugin and you are pretty much set.
