How did you know this? No biggie, SMB connector can be bought from ebay, farnell, rs etc

Andy (who developed the V5 Slave CF plugin) told me.

http://uk.farnell.com/jsp/displayPro...-2072-00001000 is the cheapest SMB connector that should be used AFAIK. As the radio is now £26.97 + delivery and the connector requires a £10 minimum order, it gets pricey. Not specifically advertising this but DIYers who just want the Venice module can get it for £30 by going through checkout for http://www.coolapplab.com/ultimate_c...ona/index.html and putting 0 in the Power / Control board box.

Is it the entire radio you are wanting or just the chip? Maybe I should ship a load to you and you can eBay them


The mag mount works okish with FM but perfect with DAB / DAB+. Glass mount is only good on DAB / DAB+. Replacement roof aerial is the best solution but has a socket for DAB and a socket for FM so you have to switch over. We are working on a multiplexer board to combine the signals which should be out next month.

There's a 'new' board? What's the difference?
I might wait until the multiplexer board is out to get anything new then to save on shipping

Mainly an audio driver to improve audio quality. I'll post more details about it and photos shortly but any orders that haven't gone out yet will come with it.

Great to see someone is into homebrew. And are you putting slave FW into it? if so then how about the software to go with it?

Somebody will have to reverse engineer the slave firmware and then build CF and RR plugins. Standalone software would be good for testing too.

Im pretty sure someone will come up with it.

You selling the module for £30 a pop would help the homebrewer. Otherwise they can find a cheap radio with the V7 inside like the tesco radio.

Maybe. I'm not convinced. It would require a lot of somebody's time to reverse engineer the slave firmware. Master is easy and the documentation is dotted around the internet anyway.

Possibly. As I said, I am not pushing it but there is the option. There is a much bigger market for "ready to roll" hardware as proved by our customer base. I can also guarantee that if you build a high quality board (components we use) you will pay more than we are currently selling the unit for so making more sense to purchase our unit.

add to that the CF plugin seems to crash if you get impatient and say press a button a second time before it reacts...and not just the plugin crashes and freezes the whole of CF stops responding.

example of this being bad:

was driving home form new place of work, changed radio station, then quickly had to switch back to nav to see what turning to take...and as i pressed the button to switch back to nav the screen whites out and i get a loading circle until the station changes....needless to say it cost me a 20 minute detour :/
