I personally have found it is more than marginal in my tests and the unit tends to work better with glass mount aerials as an added bonus. The only thing with the Venice 7 is the sensitivity is marginally better on DAB and slightly more than marginal on FM.
Incorrect. The slave firmware was TOTALLY rewritten between 5 and 7. It requires reverse engineering and plugins / standalone software built. Master firmware is pretty similar between both. And just to clarify one other point. If you get the Venice 7 with generic slave firmware, it will also work with the Venice 5 slave software. It can be found in high end Sony DAB+ radios (like mini systems). Pure radios also use venice 7 but their firmware is not generic and seems to be more like master software - I'd steer clear of this.
FS no longer sell the Venice 5 or 5.1 to radio manufacturers. Only available method of obtaining it is from existing radios.Craig brass said 5.1 is no longer in production. It is not longer listed on frontier website either. Because of that, venice 7 is the way forward but who is going to hack it and share their work here?
Possibly but its pretty basic. I'd much rather get a solid emulation as this is what my customers want according to various email communication (feature requests, etc).Im sorry for the misunderstanding. What I meant to say was write the plugin to operate the master module like a basic kitchen or clock radio. Obviously less the alarm function on the menu. Atleast we know this should work pretty solid rather than trying to emulate the slave function. If that make any sense?
I'll just keep posting in this one as I have posted in it so much already I think.CB can start his own for his products and support, or use this one.
One question to Mitch.
Is it possible to change the color of the font in the RR plugin for the radio. It is now white-pinkish but I would like to be able to change it to blue.

Interesting. I have tried a module from a Sony radio and it didn't work.
Can't recall but it was one mentioned here earlier on I grabbed from Currys. Still have the unit at the office I think so will check in the morning. It wasn't using master firmware as it didn't respond to the commands or sending back the display so assuming it is slave. I tried it with the two standalone plugins and the CF plugin and it didn't work with those either so assuming what I was told about the firmware and command set having a total rewrite for slave being true.
i just added a option
the colors avail are from the known color enum
