That should be fine...I was considering using the people light indicator to turn on when "Windows Mode" (thumbsticks control the mouse) is activated, but I might change my mind on that. Anyway, some of these details can hopefully be nailed down for sure once it's released for testing.

For the Orange + K key = Microsoft Point symbol.
Oh, the Microsoft SpaceBux (tm) symbol. xD I guess that's not important in Windows then.

GAFBlizzard if you were to release a driver that just turned on the chatpad kept the signal alive and made the chatpad be recognized as a 47 generic button controller people could assign the keys as a keyboard or key bindings using another program such as xpadder. I guess this could be an option for the installer. I've been watching the threads on here for the chatpad for over a year and I've been waiting for someone to really put some effort into it, so thank you for all your hard work.

, but I think it would be much simpler for me if the shift/orange/people/green keys were special cases.
i think you have it right. they should be special keys.

I think that if the people button light is off it should register as 44 generic buttons leaving the the orange, green and people buttons bound. then if green is lit up you have another set of 44 bindable buttons if orange is lit up you have another 44 and if orange and green are lit up you have another 44 but if the people button is lit up it will function as a normal keyboard with green and orange acting as the modifiers

I am essentially doing this, except all of the binds (with and without modifiers) are configurable to various buttons so XPadder is not needed. I don't have XPadder and I believe it isn't free software, plus it's easier for me to just use the virtual HID keyboard I already have to simulate configurable key events instead of writing a custom HID game controller.

I didn't get much done at all tonight...got home late from work, and have been poking at the problem of apparently not receiving the chatpad data quickly enough for very rapid keypresses. If worst comes to worst I can just release it with that as a known issue (i.e. don't press buttons really quickly), but I want to fix it eventually. I thought it might be because I didn't have more pending USB endpoint read requests but that does not seem to be the case.

First of all, GAFBlizzard great work on the driver, your work means a lot to everyone and your giving Microsoft a right kick where the sun dont shine.

Just have one question, when do you think you will upload your driver?

doesnt mater if its a day, month or year but would be great to have a rough idea. sorry if I sound abrubpt, I dont mean to but I have been checking this thread every couple hours thinking maybe today it will be released.

Anyway never the less great work.

    Cheers

I would like to release it soon, but it has taken me longer than I expected to learn everything, I guess. I would also like it to be perfect, but I'd like to warn everyone now -- it will almost certainly have bugs, and I may have to save trying to fix some things until after release. If you hammer keys really quickly, I may not be as good as the XBox 360 at catching them all, for instance.

In short, I want to get it in a good (but not perfect) state and then release it for testing. Presumably then I could fix bugs and add extra features if I have time, along with researching the wireless controller.

I don't want to make any promises especially since I have a daytime job that takes most of my time, but I would like to think that at the very latest, I should have something out by Christmas. I would hopefully release something earlier. I need to finish off the basic keyboard configurable mapping stuff (I think this is nearly done, maybe 1-2 more days), mess with some controller/mouse stuff (technically not required but I want to do it, maybe 1-3 days work?), and make an installer (maybe 1-3 days). So I'd guess 1-2 weeks? Just remember, no promises. I'm like HL2: Episode 3, or Duke Nukem Forever.

    Blizzard

If you need some help testing this out, I will be more than glad to help.

I have a wireless controller, pc dongle, wired controller and though I do not have a messenger "yet" that will be remedied now that I have a reason.

I do have experience with XPadder as well as have it bought and paid for. I have used it for a variety of task.

I also have experience "hacking" Wii Motes for PC useage, as well as a small amount of Java writing experience.
