I too didn't know there was a difference in wired controller types ... and I was just about to go buy a 360 wireless controller

My current theory is that the difference was one of the reasons that one guy could use a wired controller and chatpad with the Mac driver, but another one could not. And that difference was also a red herring that prevented anyone from getting the chatpad messages to start. At least, such is my theory.

At any rate, you SHOULD be able to use a 360 controller, though if you're only buying it for Windows you might as well get a made for Windows one unless it's cheaper not to.

INF files are spawn of the devil, but I just finally got a multi-installer package wrapped up for Vista, I think, and I can NOW actually do a clean build to make the Windows 7 one.

I had so much stuff to do today (non-chatpad stuff, getting ready for the trip, etc.) and haven't got much of it done, and then I was out for a while with a friend, but now I'm back for the evening. My flight was cancelled with no explanation, as far as I'm aware, so I am spending Christmas alone and going home on Monday. Looks like if anyone's reading the forum over the weekend, you'll get extra Christmas updates.

It's around 3:30 a.m. on a Christmas morning, and I traced down a memory problem I ran into right as I thought I had stuff built for uploading. :P Anyway, I just tested an install zip on Windows XP 32-bit, and it seems to work fine.

Okay, it seems pretty much good to go now. It should support Windows XP, Windows Vista, and Windows 7, in both 32-bit and 64-bit variants. Read through the updated Getting Started notes for download links and install instructions:
    http://code.google.com/p/chatpad-sup...GettingStarted

Let me know how it works for you! I still want to improve the install process slightly, make the change to hopefully fix 360 console controllers, and get source code uploading/tracking working with the site. There might be another update in a day or so.

I missed the WDF coinstaller in the Windows 7 files. No wonder that file size was small, grr. Let me fix it real quick. I'm not sure about your first results but I'll take a look at it again. *edit* A new Windows 7 download is up, and this time it's a more reasonable file size.

I may give it another try on my vista box as well, if i can get it booted up (dads gf smashed the holy hell out of it...no longer has a screen, dvd drive, and half the case is missing lol)
