I think the majority has "Microsoft Xbox 360 Wireless Receiver for Windows"
and use a stock wireless xbox 360 controller for it.

Lately I've noticed a lot of key sticking after extended use of the chatpad, after a couple days of testing I think I can reasonably exclude the chatpad hardware as the problem, I've also noticed it has been happening to other people here on this thread.

I haven't seen any problems with the mouse toggle, I've been using that a lot.. specially in games, so aside from the pointer reacting to the computers cpu levels (lagging while cpu usage is high) and the thumb sticks not really being a mouse in the sense that the sensitivity feels like it is lacking, in reality it isn't since you have a limited range of motion... the mouse drivers are working beautifully.

So it sounds like I should get this (http://www.amazon.com/Xbox-Wireless-.../dp/B000HZFCT2) and try to find a used wireless controller if I go forward with that plan.

If there are any specifics you can give, like what game, how long you played, whether you were doing lots of fast keypresses, and exactly what the behavior is when the keys "stick", that would be a big help. I am trying to keep track of all the reported problems, but it's sometimes hard to figure out remotely, unfortunately.

When a key sticks, for instance, does it repeat/stay down until you press it and release it again, or does it simply trigger twice? Handling the raw chatpad data is icky since I don't know any way to reliably handle rapidly repeated keys...but I don't know of any situation where a key would be left stuck down. I'll add it my big bug list as something to look into.

    Hi Blizzard,

My chatpad is X814365-001 I am using a wired 360 controller for windows

    I have installed the win7 x32 driver

After install I reset the computer

    Open the driver

The command prompt window stays open and is visible

When I type anything on the chatpad the chatpad keyboard lights up but no letters appear on the screen

I also tried typing in games and other software (word) but nothing

the key strokes aren't influenced by the game, it has happened in Google chrome, windows live messenger, notepad, and a couple games one that I was able to view was Dungeon and Dragon Online, I also played some Fallout NV and Batman AA although there is no real way to record the double tap, all it did was cause me to do the same action twice. most of the time it's just a second trigger, only once did it repeat the h key for like 7 strokes in live messenger, might just be the repeat time of the key strokes is to high.

Can you post/PM me the last several lines of the command prompt window? Can you also please send me a screenshot of your device manager, with certain sections expanded like the pictures in this post:

I may PM you and ask for one other piece of test information if the above doesn't help.

If you want you can try lowering the repeat rate/delay in the control panel keyboard settings, but make a note of where they are right now in case you want to go back to your original settings.

All the control utility does is simulate keys being pressed down and released according to what it thinks the chatpad is doing, and Windows handles the HID keyboard reports it gets accordingly. It is possible that I am missing some detail about the chatpad messaging protocol and that makes me release keys when they shouldn't be released, but I'm afraid that the alternative is making you sometimes press buttons twice...I used to have a problem where they wouldn't register the first time until I changed the protocol-handling code.

Just keep telling me whatever behavior details you can when the problem happens, I guess...I don't know what else to do besides try the chatpad for extended periods myself, and maybe try to simulate high CPU usage to see if that causes any side effects. I wish I could fix these problems more easily! I'm trying to cook up some test code for supporer right now, to investigate the 0x00000422 problem.....

yep will do, I might just turn it to as low as possible to see if that is the case, I'll stress it for a few hours and probably have the feedback on it tonight.

Gaf, you should just get the combo controller and receiver for $50 shipped- http://www.amazon.com/Microsoft-Xbox...840561&sr=8-12

i cant update the first post right now, the forum seems broken. the pot is actually $665. MP3car has sent out a mass email to all participants, so people will likely be downloading these in more numbers now. the precedent for the voting process was also set.

    good luck gaf!

Are you sure that controller comes with the dongle? I don't see it mentioned on the page. Also, I was worried that if I got a "for Windows" 360 controller + dongle it might be different than an official console 360 controller and Windows wireless dongle. Whatever's most popular for everyone.
