    Looks like there is a viable route to reverse engineer the Xbox360 Chatpad stuff for the Wireless controller after all, turns out the RF Module in the Xbox360 is USB:

    So I guess we would need somebody with a USB protocol analyzer who would be willing to rip open an Xbox360 and insert that analyzer in between the Xbox360 and the RF Module

    Err... wouldn't it be easier to use it somewhere with the PC wireless dongle rather than the 360 itself? The dongle is like $20 but a 360 is just a little more valuable than that lol

    We may get lucky without having to do that, but apparently in some countries people can get a banned 360 for cheap, and someone (maybe supporer) might be able to get one. Analyzing the PC traffic under Windows is something we should probably do anyway, but the issue is that, like with the wired controller, the official Microsoft Windows drivers do not currently do anything with the chatpad as far as we know, so we may not be able to use them to deduce information about how to communicate with the chatpad. We'll see.

    *edit* On an unrelated note, since someone just asked elsewhere, no, I do not have an install package built for XP 64-bit. I can try to do that when I do a new release but it won't be right away. Maybe by next weekend.

    The goal is to intercept the init code between Xbox360 and RF Module, the wireless receiver doesn't help you there as the PC doesn't init the chatpad, thus nothing to intercept.

    Thumbs up Finally!

    I've had this stupid paperweight laying around for well over a year now, waiting for Microsoft to step up and support their hardware. Having grown up with Nintendo, when I started playing computer games, I found WASD control to be very cumbersome. Thus, I used to play World of Warcraft with an old Saitek controller. But after 3 years of faithful service, it died... and is no longer made and very hard to find used. So, I started looking for alternatives, and discovered that PS3 and XBox 360 controllers both have attachable keyboards. Perfect... except, the PS3 controller is not supported by Windows. And neither is the 360's Chatpad. Well @#%!!!. So, I did the only logical thing there was to do having bought all this hardware... I Velcro'd the PS3 Keypad to my 360 controller. Awkward, but effective. Meanwhile, I'd periodically make the rounds, checking for news on the Chatpad. And finally, this thread caught fire. I have Windows 7 64-bit and my Chatpad is a X814365-001, and had no luck with your first release. However, your test3 control works great. It would be cool to have the controller itself fully configurable (the joysticks are even clickable). And if the modifiers could be made to lock on or off, similar to the current latching ability, and modify the controller buttons as well as they do the Chatpad's, that would really open up some possibilities. Nonetheless, this is awesome. Great job, GAF, thank you so much for all your hard work. Now, I lay to rest my Frankentroller, and I'm off to retrain my fingers.

    DLS2 and Chatcat, you're very welcome, and I'm glad to see it's working for you now. I hope it serves you well, and future updates are even better!

    DLS2, it might be a bad time to tell you this, but did you ever look at this? http://www.motioninjoy.com/ There seem to be drivers available for the PS3 controller/keypad if you ever want to use it instead (though I haven't used them myself).

    Also, if you want to map the joystick clicks to a key event, try something like this:
    CONTROLLER_BUTTON_LEFT_STICK_CLICK = KEYBOARD_KEY_A

    I probably haven't tried that particular binding, but it's in the README.TXT file so it might work. Some of the future things I'd like to add are the ability to swap buttons on the controller, the ability to optionally invert thumbstick axis (like a toggle), and the ability to bind the analog triggers and the dpad to actions. Basically, some of the things XPadder probably already does, depending on what people want and how much time I have. Good luck!

    Yep, I've tried motioninjoy. I don't know if I screwed up the installation or something (though I tried several times) but it completely hijacked my bluetooth adapter (leaving no line of communication with the keypad), ticked off my OS, and ultimately just didn't work for me. My unholy abomination of a controller has worked well enough, but I'm glad to be done with it. Your analog click binding does work, as it turns out. Unfortunately, being unable to bind the joysticks (to WASD in particular) means I'll have to continue using Xpadder for the controller itself. A very minor inconvenience, and at the rate this project is going, a fairly short-lived one, I suspect. Xpadder does have a pretty configuration interface, but could soon find itself functionally obsolete.

    This post typed 100% with Chatpad-Super-Driver. Thanks again.

    So of the major outstanding issues, I think we've mostly solved a couple -- the one where two non-US keys weren't supported for mapping, the one supporer had where the driver installs but the chatpad doesn't work, and MAYBE the one where there was a config file error on startup. I'm still waiting on word from chaos or the other guy (Aidan?) if they've tried the test file I sent them.

Sorry about that, but maybe someone else with the headset will have more ideas.
    Yes, the headset works fine with it plugged in (and non functional) and without the chatpad plugged in; as soon as I uninstalled the drivers and rebooted it worked fine...

    The port should still be on your chatpad, it's just a standard 2.5mm adapter, you can use any portable phone headset in it (in fact I was using a plantronics headset for the longest time).
