Isn't this already available here? http://www.mp3car.com/vbulletin/user...mp-anyone.html
Is something new and different planned?
i would look into pre-designed amplifier kits - http://shop.41hz.com/shop/
There is a fully designed system. I work fast. :) I do not have it laid out or anything but all preliminary components are selected.
As long as your distro supports the standard USB Audio protocol, then it will. And I do not know of a distro that doesnt since 1998 or so.
Also I do not believe he makes them anymore, or anything anymore. I am good friends with his brother/sister (long story...) in Belgium, but I don't think he does any of that anymore.
Also this will be as justchat said a HD soundcard and amp with 5 channels. The output will be extremely clean compared to his.
Well everyone wants to know price. I am never a fan of releasing pricing info because if I say "it will only cost 100 gorlocks" then when I need to make a design revision and it ups the price or something unanticipated happens it needs to be sold at 160 gorlocks, everyone gets angry.
If my design works (IF) and we can sell a few hundred, a $150 to $200 price range seems appropriate at this stage. And really, soundcards alone are in the $60 range for companies that produce millions right now. Add in an amp and you are looking at close to if not more than the same price. And still you dont have any customizability or car specific functions.
If price is a factor for people, then maybe I can scale it down. If it was only 16bit it would reduce cost. But I want to offer the best, not the cheapest.
That's what I was looking to hear :) That's a pretty good price! How long until there's prototypes?
Those are nowhere near the quality or price.
A stereo amp is 125E/$150ish and uses through hole components. #1 audio design rule is to not use through hole components unless you absolutely have to. Keep the signal together and it is happy like that singing fish.
Their mono amp is 25E as well. You would need 5 of them and it would not come near the SQ
Depends on how much procrastinating I do. I have a large contract project I need to get done, and me not wanting to do it means I am spending all my time designing this. :)
Also the Chinese are always on holiday so who knows. They seem to celebrate everything and the factories close down every other week.
I am talking to a representitive of a very large semiconductor company for a sample of an evaluation kit that has one of the ICs I plan to use on it for proof of concept work. The board itself retail is a years worth of car payments for me, so I am hoping there is something we can work out.
