I have no clue what the half of you are all saying but .... MY OH MY!!!!
Definitely waiting to see how this turns out!!!

    * note: would be sweet to have the volume knobs mountable in those empty switch holders that most of us have available

Definite interest here... I have one in my mind :-)

Fits into a DIN auto slot but is not quite as deep. This would allow a touch screen to fit in front of it, and the audio outputs will be convenient for existing wiring (with an adapter harness) Then 2 USB cables (Screen & Amp) could run down to the computer. This keeps the wiring nightmare to a minimum and would be an easier retrofit...

    Very nice idea!

I only posted a few weeks ago lol.

I am still designing. Audio at this bitrate and number of channels has not been done by anyone except Creative and even then it requires proprietary software to run on your PC to compress everything.

Best way to support developement of this now is to buy a Fusion Brain from the mp3car.com store: http://store.mp3car.com/Fusion_Brain...ories_s/41.htm

Hehe, I would like to support you and your Fusion Brain, but if I order from germany I pay the double price with transport fee. Many customers in europe know about your board, but there is no way to sell this within europe for a realistic price. so the most users use Vellemann K8055 board with centrafuse support in europe ...

Thatīs not a joke ;-) I developed many embedded solutions for industrial users and sometimes I need some well parts from mp3car , but with this fees it is much cheaper to buy it in taiwan...

We sold to the EU for many many customers. Now that Mp3car takes care of the shipping for us, the rates should be even cheaper. And I think Sonic has a working Centrafuse plugin.

    But anyways, back to topic

As for the form factor, I doubt DIN sized will be convenient for most people. Also USB over such a long distance becomes distorted and packets can drop. For a touchscreen or bulk data transfer like a thumbdrive it isnt really a problem. The device gets no response back, it tries again. Latency is increased and it gets slower and slower but eventually will work.

In audio, you cannot have that. If something isnt sent correctly, there is no redo. It is a one time shot. If it is distorted or missing information, then it just wont sound right. I think the best solution for this is to keep it near the PC itself, which generally is trunk mounted. You would otherwise have to run an amplifier in the back anyways, so there isnt any more or different work. Just a different device.
