    Ta-Da! Prototype DC-DC PSU

This is a new prototype for the FusionPSU! It is based off of the M2-ATX in size, and that's about it. The 5v rail is almost 2 times as powerful, the 12v rail 125% more powerful, and all rails are a minimum of 50% better regulated.

There is a big easily replaceable fuse next to the big easy to wire to screw terminals. The connectors are modularized, so if you only need the ATX cable and 1 HD, then you only need to connect that making it so that your mini case doesn't become a crowded mess.

It has the same footprint as the M2-ATX meaning it is a drop in replacement for cases like the VoomPC/VoomPC2. It also has a USB jack on it that will allow for programmable settings and monitoring if wanting. If not wanted, then you don't need it.

    Code:
    Output Rail Current (Max)	Regulation
    5V 15A > 1%
    3.3V 8A > 1%
    5VSB 1.5A > 1%
    -12V 0.3A > 5%
    12V 10A > 1%

Nice! What kind of settings and monitoring does it support?

this sounds awesome.. cant wait to get one to test it out. I'd love to replace my DSATX with something smaller.

It would be cool if you can control the timing of each individual connector. I have my screen powered by my M2-ATX P4 connector, and it would be cool to have it come on (X) seconds after ignition, so you dont get that ugly "NO VGA" screen, and you dont see the post message. Thats the only thing keeping me from having total black until Centrafuse shows.

I see a depressing lack of mounting holes, am I just missing them? Any sort of ETA and price point?

Currently nothing. But the goal is for it to report back the actual voltages of all rails live at a bare minimum. Settings would be for amp turn on delay, and even sequencing of the power rails. Of course there is the soft off/hard off timing settings as well.

This was just a one off build to see what I can get going. Once I get this working I will work on making something more "pretty" to have actual beta testers. I haven't checked the specs of the DSATX, but I thought that thing was really really beefy? If you are using it to max capacity, this may not work. What sort of ratings do you need?

That would be cool, but against ATX regulations. There is a giant document that you must follow to be compliant. But it sounds like you could use the remote amp turn on feed to turn on your screen + amp at the same time. Or you could <cough> get a FB </cough> and have it turn on one or both on boot as well.

Yeah the connector is gigantic. I just wanted something to play with. But, if you look at the connected directly to the right of the USB jack (the little 2 pin) that is actually D+ and D- for the USB signals. So inside the case, you can just wire those 2 pins over the cooresponding 2 pins on your motherboards internal USB header and that is really easy to do.

I was quite depressed too when the fab house decided to just omit an entire drill pattern from the board... The USB mounting holes, board mounting holes, and several heat vias were not drilled. Also if you look closely those big through hole capacitors are mounted to SMD pads for similar reasons...

I don't want to do an ETA because I feel really guilty about the FBv6. If there is a problem, it pushes things back by at least a month. The sooner the better though. Price point should be slightly above the M2 retail.

Would adding more features be against the ATX regulation? If you comply to the basics and add more shouldn't that be ok?
It would be nice to have one or two controllable outputs that could be either delayed or activated when trigged from software. This would make it easier to keep the screen (or some other unit) off until some software says "ok lets go".

No but turning on the 12v rail after the 5v rail is forbidden. But that's why you can use the amp-output (a delayed signal) to switch a relay connected to the 12v rail, to power your monitor (and amps).
