Hi moss, yes a Combiner/Diplexer would be needed and I use those terms loosely.
In my install the DAB-FM app auto switches a small (RF) relay to select DAB or FM aerial inputs. I went this way to overcome the loss in using a passive Combiner/Diplexer. To implement this in its simplest form would only require a spare serial port or IO pin to automatically control a tiny relay.
Just out of curiosity, how does the antenna you get with the monkeyboard unit work. If the antenna base does not have this combiner/diplexer then would it not be built into the board itself. SNO
Hi SNO, the small aerials are a compromise and as DAB and FM are harmonically related a compromise aerial can be created, however IMHO this small aerial is built to favour DAB reception.
To have a combiner built on the board would require two input sockets.
To answer the question, in a good signal area it works fine, in a fringe location like mine, not so good.
Thanks for the answer Mickz. The FM side of that little antenna worked pretty good here, I was getting some distant stations I have trouble with my Visteon unit getting. Not that I could test the dab side. SNO
BTW SNO, I did test Driveline again and sent a second private message with results but that was some time ago now, haven’t heard anything since so I may download it again and have a look.
Thanks Mickz I have sent my unit to enforcer since he is in the UK and could use it for development more so than me. Clockwork still has his to do the coding with but without great peeps like you we can't test the dab stuff. Not sure if even anyone will use DL on that side of the world but it should at least have a choice for radio's SNO
Found a BUG with Preset files not being found under rare conditions. Fixed and uploaded.
I'm gonna throw an idea out for all you people who have worked hard on this DAB bored.
Could it be made with a Bluetooth chip? The reason I'm asking is I would like to control this board with my android phone, I think there would be a big market for it especially with a lot of people going the android and ipad rout for carpc's.
There will also need to be apps developed. I would be happy to pay a couple of £/$ for the app and the proceeds could go towards the development of future boards.
I would develop all this myself but my skills tend to end at pairing devices.
Lingo iVy Bluetooth DAB (Android) does it and the slides is pretty cool.

Unless you want to design your own hardware and apps based on the board described here.
I've already looked at that and it's one of my backup plans.
