    Hi,
I am Andre from Germany and I am new here. I had contact with JP and Keystone (thanks for help). I have a Volvo V70 with carpc. At this time I use the Noxon USB receiver and windows antenna (it is not optimoal) for DAB. A roof antenna is not possible for me.
Now my Idea. I have two boards and my project is a two tuner receiver with two antennas and automatically switching the audio to the tuner with best signal. For the communication between the boards I using I2C and now I have only one USB connection to the computer. At this time I have modified the keystonecomm.dll. Now I working at the PIC firmware. I plan a function that activate the tuner and get the last station automatically after power on. So I have audio before the computer is up :-).

@Mickz your frontend is a great work. Is it possible, that I can get the source code? Then I can modify it for my two boards and integrate it in my control program.

At the end two links to my car computer.

Hi Andre, great to see you pop up here. A diversity system would certainly help with a less than optimal aerial installation. I hated having to cut a hole in the roof of my Luxury Accord, especially as my roof mounted location was limited by the factory moon/sun roof. I was fortunate to have an overhead light over the rear seats. Simply removed the light and drilled just behind it, mounted aerial and reinstalled the light. It looks factory fitted and actually enhanced the look and lines of the vehicle.

Great idea with instant music. In my case I have music playing within 3 seconds from MB power-on, so I haven't had the need for that yet and although a cold boot takes14 seconds to music it's still playing before my Black Box camera had initialized (don't know why that BB takes 20 seconds to boot)

    Cheers Andre
I assume you are talking about the DAB SW application and not my Honda Accord Front End application (which is huge) and not something that would be useful unless all Custom Microprocessor interfaces and hardware controls were duplicated.

I can certainly give you my DAB APP code, the main differences between this DAB code in my FE DAB code are the hardware interface hooks that control DAB operation from steering wheel controls and centre console encoder.

    Hi Mickz,

yes, you are right. I mean your DAB Application from this thread.

Theme roof antenna: This is the problem, I do not want a hole in the roof. Maybe I ask my Volvo dealer for mounting the roof antenna from Volvo V70III. But this is the last way.

    Cheers
    Andre

    Hi Andre,
I have a similar issue to yours regarding my antenna. My antenna is factory fitted and is FM only (I cant pick up any dab stations). I contacted JP and he did have some DAB/FM antennas which he kindly sent over for me to test.

These antennas are the window stick on ones. I have not yet had the chance to test in the car but as promised to JP, I will test and provide as much feedback as possible. If Mick is ok with it, I might just post it here for the sake of reference.

on another note mick, with the new board being released that supports slideshows, do any aussie radio stations currently broadcast in this fashion? Just curious.

Hi Mos, post away, anything to do with the module is really welcome here, the first page has the relevant info so if the aerials work out I'll put info there to save others searching.

Almost every DAB station has Slideshow in all states AFAIK. All the pictures I posted with slideshow are Application screen grabs from local stations

I got 1 (technically 2) Keystone Semi 8290C development boards that i built over a year ago
when i was messing with this device...
since i didnt go anywhere with it... mostly that we dont have DAB in USA, while its a nice FM Radio
not ideal for us in USA...
these boards sitting here collecting dust

will work with all SF the monkeyboard does, its just a USB to Serial interface for the T1_L4A_8290C
infact i use the sw in this thread... i also have my own, sw but that was designed for R&D of the protocol

if someone wants this, pm me.... $25 + shipping (shouldnt be much even world wide)

it has a SMB antenna connector, you might have to adapt

if i sell the 1st one, and someone wants the 2nd one, i just have to solder in the 8290C module...

would be a good item for a front end developer to have....

I'm still only using the supplied antenna at the moment which works OK for dab, but not so much for FM. This probably explains my patchy RDS, as that needs a decent signal.

I have been controlling the module from my own code directly yes. According to the documentation it should be possible to get raw RDS data from the module. But my initial tests didn't produce any.
I'm away visiting for Christmas at moment, when I get back I'll try again with a better antenna.

Thanks for that, I got to admit I was using a long audio cable so I can move the radio well away from the PC as its struggling to pick up signals, not sure on the quality of the cable but its pretty thick and doesnt look cheap at all.

Im gonna email JP see if I can get the programming guide, I hope its not too difficult, Cheers

If you need any pointers with protocol feel free to drop me a PM, save you making the same mistakes I did!
    Otherwise JP is extremely helpful.
