The other thing is that I update and switch between the demo SW and mine and even swap boards and I never have to rescan as each module is asked for its DAB and FM presets on power up and the presets are filled in accordingly.
Just tried direct frequency input on FM and it works fine with any frequency in the band. Certainly makes redoing the presets quick and easy. I’ll do it properly as soon as I get a chance, maybe tomorrow.
Just an update, I can completely automate resetting FM presets and also DAB presets. I was planning to do this for when I travel. When I get home I can just press a button in setup and have the radio rescan and reset everything to my home location.
You, Mickz, are a legend!
You now have:
1. Direct frequency input on FM.
2. Presets for FM1, FM2, FM3 and FM4 thats 40 FM Presets.
3. When you rescan stations you keep ALL DAB and FM presets.
4. To be added DAB1 to 5 for 50 DAB presets and you still have the DAB list if thats not enough!
5. If a station in a new area has the same name as a preset from you home location then after a rescan, that Preset will work regardless of the stored module channel.
Another change to come: You no longer have to play a DAB station before drag and drop from the List buttons. So adding or changing presets will be fast!
If someone with a module (Dexamenus?) would like to test it, download my app from the first page if you haven’t already done so. Then download this small exe file. If you already have my latest app then just download this small file.
I’m out of here for a few hours. Once again this has just been coded and hardly tested, there could be bugs, but dam it nice to use.
In FM mode, press the “FM Frequency” button and the preset buttons change to a keypad.
The Frequency is entered as: 104.5 or just 88 will be 88.000Mhz.
Press the FM Frequency button again to accept. Or use a keyboard to enter the freq then press the kyb enter key.
Well, I tried the modified exe, and wow, it works brilliantly mate.
Frequency input is awesome, especially in testing and whilst I am bench testing the system before it goes in.
I certainly don't need all the FM presets, I find 6 is plenty for me, but that is an awesome feature which I'm sure others will love.
Another question though;
There is a lot of random stuff in the original software and I presume you just leave it all there when you are modifying it, but is "\DABFMMOD\DAB_FM_MOD\DabFmSa1\bin\Debug\DabFmSa1. exe" the one I shoulg be using?
And it seems that the "\DABFMMOD\DAB_FM_MOD\Application ready" directory is the same? It seems like that would be the one to use, as there is less clutter in the subfolders??
I don't really mind, I am just trying to work out what is being used and what isnt.
Just copy the Application ready folder, put in anywhere you like and rename it to whatever you like. The rest is for someone modifying the code in VB.net 2010.
The extra presets are for travelling, I can put the inland/outback stations or locations I normally visit in there and I’m good to go as each goes out of range.
BTW once you have presets just the way you like, copy FM1 to 4 and the DAB 1 to 4 files to a safe location. That way if you want to muck around or something goes wrong you can copy them back and everything will go back the way you like.
I will make the small exe file available as I make changes for anyone who uses it, cuts down on download time and only one file to update. Glad you liked it, I'm just about to get fast preset drag-drop working and DAB 1 to 5 preset selectors running and then I'm done for the things I always wanted my car Radio to do.
No worries at all, have my carpc out of the old car and have had it running the DAB triple J stream all day and no faults at all!
I did have a it drop out a few times, seeming randomly, until I realised that it did it every time I leant forward in my chair.... **note to self, antenna position matters** haha.
Now I just need to get a way to embed it into my front end.
Mickz, you're doing some really great work there! :high5:
Only wish I could join in......waiting impatiently for mine to arrive. Received by Customs last night but now sat in a warehouse 80 miles from me.
Had a slim hope it would arrive for the weekend. :bored:
I’ve just updated the exe file. DAB 1 to 5 preset lists have been added and drag and drop is fast, no waiting for the module to tune the DAB station. Cleaned up and fixed drag drop code as well.
If you don’t see DAB 1 to DAB 5 on the list buttons in DAB mode on start up then scroll the list UP.
At list top (home) DAB presets 1 to 5 appear. Select the DAB List preset (DAB 1 to 5) you want to use/modify and then scroll down the list to the stations you want. Then drag and drop to the presets from the list buttons, but you can do it immediately now, so much faster.
Once again, just finished coding it and I’m done for the night so no chance to test it for more than a few minutes. Let me know how it goes.
BTW you MUST delete Radio.ini again, sorry! You will also have NO DAB presets showing, but once you set them you can copy the relevant preset files to a safe place.
BTW I have not uploaded the code for this yet.
