Extremely professional and small boards. What program are you using for the board layout?
    We research every possible solution. We use Cadsoft Eagle for the PCB design. I'll look into it but I suspect the best solution in our case is machine fab PCBs. Thanks for the advice .

    As I said before every relevant info including schematics/PCB layout/source code will be available publically. Fact is that we'll go the SMT route for that device so buying from us or not is based on if you can solder SMT or not. We'll make kits available but with the info provided here you could order the parts and build it yourself...

    Well we don't consider the commercial side of it yet. It's too early for that. Whatever happens though the fact is that for MP3Car.com members all info will be free...

    We're free to decide on that one. We make this.... I2C, USB and/or RS232 will be implemented for sure. APIs and SDKs will follow sortly...

    I can't wait until all the testing is done and the final product is released. I hope it doesn't take too long. And thanks for making a new thread the other one was getting way too big to keep up with.

    seth, i hate to bust your chops already but when do you see this unit at the "final release" stage

    I ask cause i basically have all my carPC parts, my delay is waiting for good HU replacement. I was going to set it up next week, but with XM and wait....but now XM is gone too and i need some kind of radio
    just want to get an idea on how much longer I have to wait to setup my carPC

    thanks

    I have a question on the 4 channel audio out. Will this output be strong enough that I will not need a line driver for my amps? I know the sound card outputs are not stronge enough and there are problems with sound quality.
    Also will I be able to put the output from my sound card into this unit and then send it to the amp? Let me know if this is how it can be used or if I am getting it wrong.

    Thank you for starting the new thread... I have lost track in the last one... sounds like an awsome deal to me. I would expect that most folk won't be able to solder the SMT chips... but I could be wrong... I personally have a decent amount of experience... and I can speak for myself... I CAN'T do the SMT... so when this comes available, I think the SMT stuff needs to be soldered... the rest can be kit form... just my opinion... other than that... I'll take at least a few! lol Great work guys!
    Coach... aka Randy! (I often forget who I really am!) ;)

    ***Too many pieces and parts to list... maybe someday I'll show'm to ya!***

    Strange....I use the outputs from my audigy NX and I have the gain on my amps turned all the way down. The configuration sounds good and is more than capable of producing sufficient volume to blow my factory speakers. I'll defer to Seth to give us specifics but I anticipate that the radio will have line-level outputs.

    UPDATE: According to the datasheets the LFOUT and RFOUT signals are at 0.750V - 1.360V (rms). Assuming your amp can accomodate these levels, you should be all set.

    Also will I be able to put the output from my sound card into this unit and then send it to the amp? Let me know if this is how it can be used or if I am getting it wrong.
    Yes the signal processor supports this capability in addition to volume, fader, and tone control. I'm not sure how much of this (if any) will be implemented in the first phase.

    Try Olimex. Prices are low and their do quite good PCBs and low quantaty too.

    Do PCB with Eagle and output the gerber files and Olimex do the proto for you. SMD chips are hard enought to solder so fabricated PCB is needed.

    I just find this project and it sure sounds really interesting. Do you have schematic somewhere to download?

    Hi Seth

    I want one of this too and if you need a tester in EU (Germany) I'll be more than happy to help

    @jaripetteri

    Thanks for the info. I'll contact them and see what they can offer. I'm currently looking into www.pad2pad.com and in a local PCB printing service here in Greece. Guess it'll be another round of the "low quantity/low cost" battle...
    Schematics are not yet available due to design finalization/debbuging/testing.

    @xequtor

    Testing on the European FM/AM band will be done by myself...
    But we'll need some testers in a future DAB implementation (no DAB in Greece....yet). You could help us out in that field...

    Thanks
