Leave ISA where it is...faded out of the new kid's memories of PC's...lol

I dont care how it connects as long as I get AM and FM

USB would probably benefit more people since you can dasiy chain USB devices and hubs.. Limit is 127 items tree'd out(see here for those of you that would like a general USB FAQ)

But my parallel & RS232 ports are fre so choice is yours all mighty hardware developer

The other day I was looking at my 2 setups.
I want to replace the radio in the Matrix but not ready for it yet.... cus Xmas drain away all my reserve cash.
I don't really want the HU in the Supra ... As the audio in the PC can go straight to the EQ with then split to 3 output Front/Rear/Sub.
But I need AM for traffic Info ... so I need the HU.

Hurry up... get that AM/FM radio out ... connection doesn't matter. ... just get it to work

Ok now for the power part.... Unregulated 12V like car power source so that no special "egg" needed when use in car.
Those laptop people ... if they use in car, well, get the power from there. If they use in house, get one of those 12V wall brick. Desktop people to use in house. Either get a brick or be creative and make yourself a cable to get power from the drive connector.

Now, ...the main objective of this project is to use in car so use the car power source and step down to whatever needed for the device.

I apologize in advance if I'm mistaken but do you suggest using 12V unregulated directly from the car electrical system?
If so...well...that's not a good idea. One of the produced voltages
is 8.5V which is the tuning system voltage. That's a very critical
voltage that must be as clean as possible.
Again if I got it wrong I apologize...

No you didn't get me wrong on this. What I mean is in the circuit, just add the regulator circuit to step down to 8.5V. That is why the last words on my previous post is use the car power source and step down to whatever needed for the device.

    I see...
Again the solution here might be that we include the regulator circuit on the PCB layout and let those who need it to solder the necessary components.
Keep in mind that besides quality, low cost is our goal also

I would say that on this subject that we arent going to please everyone. That being said i think that a molex connector will be sufficient to get us started and will cater to the majority. Others who have laptops and such can build or buy their own regulator circuits. 15 bucks at radio shack

Agreed ... make the power input whatever is the cheapest, easiest, and/or most convenient. Leaving a spot on the board for upgrades should be done, when feasible.

@Seth: Looks like Pablo only had access to an old Cray. My computer(s) constantly give me problems.

I don't know why the word "cheaper" keeps coming up, don't get me wrong, I am not setting on a pile of money. Reliability, performance and ease of use are the prime directive.
