I will keep this in mind. Can be very useful. How is you knowledge of Delphi?

    Regards,
I'm ok in Delphi (read: not advanced). NaviVoice is made in Delphi 7, and so are all of my LCDC plugins.

[Edit]: I can communicate with the COM port pretty well. I wrote a caller-id parser without having a caller-id capable modem

It's been a while since I've done any Pascal but I'm pretty much language agnostic. Delphi seems a fairly obscure choice. I did my stuff in VB.Net simply because it seemed like a nice small first project to get aquainted with .NET. It would trivially port to pretty much any modern x86 development environment. The communication between the host and radio is extremely minimal so performance isn't much of an issue -- even less so for prototyping.

I've been following the forums for a while and finally decided it was time to register. I'm nearing drivability for my 1966 Bug and since there is no stereo (stock it was only a single speaker/AM system) and I'm performing a complete resto/custom job on the car I have lots of options. The carputer seems like the way to go and if i can do it completely headless that would be best. I like the sound of your product and I'm excited to hear how it does. Chances are that you will be done before my car is ready for the road but knowing my options early will help with the install/custom work.

on a side note, I fancy the old beetle, is it stock paint? have pics?

edit: now that I think about it, I would go purely computerized FM, and keep the stock single AM speaker for AM purposes only... LOL

Its got half its stock paint left (the guy who owned it before me started exterior body work) so I'm going to go ahead and do a new color. It was a baby/sky blue originally but I'm probably going with a green like on the newer VW GTI. Hopefully paint will happen early this spring.

I do plan to keep the stock radio in it (not even sure it works) just for looks and try to do a well hidden screen. If i put the ragtop in then I REALLY will try to hide the screen. As far as the original radio working I would rather hack it up and make it control the computer but I don't know if that will ever happen.

I'll try to post some pics in the next few days of the current state (maybe I'll take some this weekend. I think I own one picture of the bug before I dismantled it and its slowly going back together (minus the holes....if that even makes sense).
    Dashboard Install?....I don't have a dashboard?....Whats up with that???

Ummmm ... can you maybe move this discussion to a new thread? This one is already polluted enough.
