I saw one sold on Ebay for $99 via Buy It Now and figured that it was fair. Let me get the covers off and see what kind of RAM we're dealing with. They're 200 MHZ Pentiums, I'm pretty sure. I'll get back to you.

I'm tapped out of ideas, though. I must have done something wrong, but I don't know what - or my XMD is bad (not likely). I get the same results from two different computers and I'm 100% positive that I was able to get the XM antenna in a good enough place to catch a signal - right next to my other fully functioning XM antenna... Besides...

the money's spent on the new cable.

The one I built. Probably won't see the new one before the middle of next week.

did you try swapping the serial tx and rx pins just to make sure that it wasnt crossed serial lines?

Um... no...

What the hell - I've give it a whirl! But I did doublecheck my wiring with a Fluke and the pins match identically to your first post with continuity from xm pin 1 to ser pin 3, xm 2 to ser 2 and xm 3 to ser 5. I'd be willing to swap the two to see if something is screwy...

yes, center is ground.

Yeah I would double check it on the serial connector because I always seem to get them backwards. there should be tiny numbers next to the pins.
