They would have to change many headunits or adaptor cables too many to make it worth it, They would also have to let the public know. I'll let ben know on the dot net 2 problem your having and see what he can help you with on that. BTW you cable should ship monday. If you want a car adaptor with yours along with the home power email me I'll throw one in.

@R32 JUhl: looks like you have SW issue on your PC, Frodo's test takes a bit of time but not 2 min. Don't dismiss the possibility that one or more of the pins is lose. Oh, if you got that far with Indigo & Frodo test, then xmd is fine and responding to power-on. try to start cold and see if you can get eXem to work. Your issue could be drivers.

SinnerG: I think you are using the Hybrid cable, correct, if that is the case, then your issue is also SW related. Your issue could be setup related.

.NET should not take long to install, are you guys sure that your setup is up to date, all fixes and whatnot.

Just a thought, go to device manager, make sure that you have only one "mouse" installed, XP could be a smart *** at times.

It was wishful thinking, on my behalf.

It's a ****er! I tried to uninstall and it said that it would not let me. So I downloaded a fresh install from Microsoft and it wouldn't let me install because it said there was already a version on my machine. So I tried to use its uninstaller to remove that version PLUS I removed .Net 1.1 and it STILL wouldn't let me remove it or install new. But I have reinstalled .NET 1.1. All that happened this morning before my problems started.

    THANKS for your help!

I'm leaning toward a loose pin in the cable I built. As for the cold-start, it never worked with testxm, but it did work once with the com port emulator - but only once. All other times it was only after a previous plugging/unplugging of +12V. As far as drivers are concerned, I'm having the issue on two computers - one 2000 and one ME - but I suppose it could still be drivers.

Both computers have all of the latest updates from MS updates.

Even though I'm not running XP, I followed your advice... and there's only one mouse installed.

If that's all you got, your XM service isn't activated yet.
    But that's a secondary issue.

Are you sure you have good reception ? Try moving your antenna.
    It should be facing south.

Right! I'll activate about the time I'm ready to do the install. I've alread got two XM receivers activated - an old Sony Plug and Play model and a Roady 2.

It's sitting in my southfacing kitchen window right next to another (much older) XM antenna that gets perfect reception in the same spot. What would the data look like if it was not getting a satellite signal?

Oh, one more thing. A good friend works for XM and advised me that the Southern states have an easier time getting a signal due to the positioning of the satellites. The Northern states are facing the satellites at a greater angle.

I'll work up a more detailed test app later today. We can see what data we are getting.

Yeah that would be really good for testing purposes.

I got it working last night @ 3:30AM. For no rhyme or reason, I started seeing info. The ONLY thing I did differently was to completely power down my machine (Unplugged it from the wall for 30 mins). Right when I was about to call it quits, it started receiving the previews. I had to refresh my subscription, and all channels came through. Thanks all for the advice (Frodo, KingTut, ImageX, and the rest of yous)
