No it is correct, we just need to put it on the image that the view shown is looking at the end of the cable. I tested it against my cable last night just to make sure. And it's fine.

hmm.. Then I don't understand nickmig's prob...

His problem is fixed, what he did was ground the shield on the cable. So I guess we should add a shield connection to that diagram

thats perfect. just make sure you ground the shield on the cable!

actually it isn't fixed...sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. I just shortened the cable thinking that that was the problem....no go, it is still intermittent...F***ing A!!

edit: I actually used a belkin 6' mac serial printer cable... The new cable is about a foot and a half

you are using take3 right? did you end up using the USB adapter or your onboard serial port?

Did you ever get this resolved?

I have built several using the above diagram and all work perfect.. My guess is one of your solder joints is bad (if you are still having the problem)

Since I don't have access to any of the other XM devices.. Does anyone know if this cable ONLY works with the XMD1000 or does it work with others (like the roady etc)
