also, when you are doing the on-the-road testing, maybe give an estimate of how far you are from the station you are listening to? because i know that many times we have been able to pick up a local station (K105) as far as akron (about 50 mile difference) and sometimes farther on a good day before it starts to cut out and this is on a factory HU, so it would be nice to try and compare performance.

The station I will tune into will be a national station Q-music
They broadcast over a big part of the country on different frequencies to have no interference. I don't think our local radio stations are a good reference. I also have good faith in the reception quality of the tuner.

    racemier,

In your video, what were you using to control the i2c bus? Was that the interface found here? Also, when you selected the tuner and the FM station played, what was the name of that "superman" song? Secondly, after the long pause, what was the name of that song sung by the girl in some other language? (I'm in the US

Also, I've contacted microtune and I'm hoping to purchase one or a sample tuner. I'm going to attempt a digital radio project on my own, with RDS/RBDS decoding, AM stereo, and weatherband. A PIC16F747 will control it, and I'll use the SAA6588 RDS/RBDS preprocessor, and I'm going to use the TDA7462 audio processor. I plan on using a blue OLED display as well. The FM MPX output, when in weatherband mode, that pin is a mono audio signal. Will that pass through an MPX decoder unharmed?

    Thanks.

The interface is based on a 74LS05. I have no idea who sings the song Superman. The girl is Axelle Red, see is Belgian and sings mainly in French.
A mono signal should not create a problem for the MPX decoder because this was one of the demands when they introduced stereo. Stereo receivers should be able to receive mono and stereo signals (19khz pilot tone) and visa versa.

Today I recorded two files while driving, a mp3 and a mpg file.
Note that the module only is in a kind of default mode, meaning that options like multipath, noise reduction, stereo functions etc of the sound processor aren't set. This ofcourse has a negative influence on the output quality.
Also the mp3 file is recorded using my laptop's audio input which isn't directly the quality standard for sound cards.
    Anyway enjoy.
